his June the Braunstone Residents’ Network is supporting the ‘Charlie Says…’ campaign in hosting a fancy-dress sponsored run around Braunstone Park to raise money for local lad Charlie Barkby. The fun run will take place on Saturday 14th June, starting from the West End Working Men’s Club, Braunstone Avenue. All runners need to meet outside the club between 11-11.30am. The ResNet will be providing a refreshments stall and afterwards, if they’re not too out of breath, runners and volunteers are invited back to the West End Club for a free karaoke and disco organised by Steven Finch. Sponsorship forms for runners are available from the club. Also planned is a charity football match at Fullhurst Community College, followed in the evening with a disco, karaoke and raffle at the West End Working Men’s Club. Organiser Kelly Johnson said, ‘Come along and bring the family to support these worthwhile events. The last event we held raised an amazing £1,180, thank you to all those that attended!’ So get out your running shoes and clean the mud off those footie boots, or just come along and support Charlie in his ‘Please Help Me Walk’ campaign.
