Dedicated to special souls who have filled my life’s journey with love, passion and joy. You know who you are.

Letter from the Editor With this piece I want to inspire you to find beauty in aging — more specifically, your own aging.
I hope to challenge what the industrial world has taught us, and to reclaim that which nature has always made obvious.

JUNG’S JOURNEY
7
The famous psychologist Carl Jung saw aging as the “great adventure” that “gradually pushes one out of time... and into futures yet unborn.”
8
9
Jung saw “the afternoon of life” as rich with purpose and meaning — the time when we have an opportunity to free ourselves from dysfunctional patterns, reclaim our authentic selves, and connect to infinity.
10
11
12
Why doesn’t our culture see it that way?
Jung believed it’s because with youth, achievement, and productivity so highly prized, we have lost our connection to nature.

AGING AS NATURE INTENDED IT
15
In nature, all is cyclical.
16
17
Aging, growth, death, and rebirth are all part of one dance of creation.
18
19
In the evolutionary process, expansion into the outer world...
20
...is followed by a slow return to the One.
21
Jung therefore felt that nature gave us an extended period between physical prime and death for a reason.

JUNG’S JOURNEY CONTINUED
25
According to Jung, aging forces ego to recede so that the soul can expand.
26
27
Mirroring the cycles of regeneration in nature, we shed outdated parts of ourselves and we plant seeds for new growth.
28
29
Sex appeal gives way to creative power.
30
Social accolades give way to timeless essence.
31
Wounds give way to wisdom.

33
34
Our inner child, finally unburdened, can dance once again with the divine.
35
36
And we become, in the words of Jung, “the guardians of mystery”, called to guide the new generation.
37
A different kind of beauty emerges.—

Anna Zubets-Anderson is a working mom of two who enjoys connecting with others through creative expression.
She is an interdisciplinary artist who loves a visually powerful metaphor. Although currently she is predominantly focused on paintings, Anna deploys an eclectic and ever-evolving mix of different media, materials and techniques.
Convinced that every human is born an artist, Anna enjoys encouraging others to bring more authenticity, creativity and joy into their lives.
Anna views art as a form of communication. She says that her own work, first and foremost, aims to facilitate healing, both for herself and for her audience. The goal is for each artwork to elevate a life or social issue that needs a resolution or deeper understanding.
