NtN sponsors Santa letters, Christmas dinners BY CARLA NOAH STUTSMAN Every child loves to write a letter to Santa at Christmastime, and once again this year, Santa’s helpers will be in Springtown to collect letters and take them directly to St. Nick. Neighbor to Neighbors (NtN) Food Pantry will sponsor Santa letters again this year. Letters may be dropped off in the big white mailbox by the Santa Sled in the Springtown Square, where Santa’s helpers will pick them up and deliver them to Saint Nick. Santa Claus will respond to every letter personally. Remember to put your return address on every letter so his response will reach you. Santa Claus himself will be in Springtown Dec. 14 from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. He will be available for pictures in the Santa Sled on the Square. There is no charge for photos or to see Santa, so bring your
children and pets and be sure to bring your own camera or cell phone to take your own photos. Donations, of course, are always welcome. Cash, clothing, turkeys and hams are most appreciated this time of year. Do not donate mattresses or couches – NtN cannot legally accept them and, in fact, has to pay to dispose of them. NtN distributes, on average, 1,200 pounds of food each of three weeks it’s open per month. That translates to 3.600 pounds of food per month or 43,200 pounds of food per year. Because they are able to buy food at a discounted per-pound rate, cash donations are most effective in helping the needy in the Springtown area. This year NtN will provide Christmas dinner baskets to about 400 families in the Springtown area from 8 a.m.noon Saturday, Dec. 21.
