Median LTV

The median loan-to-value ratio is calculated by dividing the original value of the open liens on a home by the sale price of the home in that month in that geographic area. A lower LTV indicates that homeowners are more likely to be able to afford their homes because they have borrowed less to purchase it. Lenders typically require private mortgage insurance (PMI) for owners who have an LTV greater than 80%.
