Previously proposed land division and use of Al-Ersal land, the ex-main transmitter of Palestine Broadcasting Service that had been established in 1936 and operated from Jerusalem until the end of the British Mandate.
The map shows the changes of land divisions upon the change of the suggested and minimized urban project of a public park, extending to 5 more uses. The ToR of the architectural competition announced by the Palestinian Authority on 2003 had requested the land to be divided for 75% for Palestine National Park, and to reserve the rest for a commercial future investment. In 2015, Al-Istiqlal Park was opened on 45% of the land, while its main competitor was Ersal Center, also opened on 2015, a commercial center developed by Amaar; the real estate investment arm of the Palestine Investment Fund (PIF). The project when firstly introduced was promoted as Al-Bireh and Ramallah's new downtown.
