ADA 2012 - Architecture Dissertation Award is an annual international competition for Architecture final thesis projects, promoted by AWR Competitions - Architecture Workshop in Rome. ADA 2012 awards the most outstanding thesis on the topic of Housing. The theme presented this year, is the archetype of architecture for design concept. For centuries formal, technological, functional and aesthetic search for housing has been in the middle of a multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural debate.

Awards are intended for teams, regardless if the participation is by individuals or groups. The prize includes bank commissions and taxes. The payment of the prize will be made only through Paypal. Submission requirements ***
You must be correctly registered to the website www.awrcompetitions.com to take part to the competition. Once the registration and the payment process has been successfully completed you will receive an email notice by AWR with a confirmation of the enrollment. In the confirmation mail you will receive a registration code which will be the only way of identifying you during the evaluation period. A further test for the correct payment will be the PayPal confirmation email.
Entrants must submit their proposal via email no later than January 20, 2013 (23:59 GMT +1) to the following email address: email@example.com
The payment of the registration fee must be made exclusively through the website www.awrcompetitions.com, adopting one of the available payment methods and according to the established terms.
- One (1) board A1 (84,1x59,4 cm) HORIZONTAL format that explains and shows the thesis project (max. 5 MB) in PDF. - One (1) page A4 format (max. 1500 caracters) that explain design process in PDF (English language). - One (1) PDF with all thesis project boards (max. 10 MB) - The official contest form containing participants personal information (available for download in the download section on the Website awrcompetitions.com).
Each participant must send the following material:
A clear, concise explanation of the design that intelligently addresses the three key criteria and answers all the relevant questions in the call for entries. Explain the innovation and inspiration behind your idea. You are encouraged to give a unique name to your design.
PAYMENT METHODS ** The payment methods accepted are the following: PayPal and Credit Card PayPal is the simplest and safest way to pay online without disclosing the number of your credit card. There is no fixed time frame for the transfer of money. Registration will be confirmed and the code will be sent instantly in order to start the participation. With this payment method no commission fee is applied. Bank Transfer If you want to pay by bank transfer please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. The fee corresponding to a specific period should be credited to the account provided by mail by the AWR staff. Any bank commission will be covered by participants. Period Fee + Bank Commission = Payable Fee If you do not receive the partecipation code immediately after payment, contact us at email@example.com
The resolution of the boards must be 150 dpi, RGB mode and saved as PDF files. The bottom right corner of each board must contain the participation number. All the files must be placed in a ZIP folder named after your registration number. For example: 10arc-u-01.zip The boards must be named with the registration number. For example: 10arc-u-01.pdf The boards should not contain any other sign of recognition, it causes the immediate exclusion from the competition. Each participant must not display, publish or distribute the submitted boards of the competition MOBILIciTY, no picture and no reference, even in part, in any form or in any forum / portal / website or similar until the end of the competition and the announcement of the winners. The official competition language is English. Any note or text must be written English. Any text written in a different language will be ignored. When the registration project deadline is over the automatic system that controls the delivery of the projects will be closed and it is not possible anymore to deliver the project.
judging criteria *
The competing projects will be evaluated according to the following judging criteria:
Architectural quality: will be evaluated the ability to interpret the complexity of the theme proposed by the competition. Will be evaluated functional, formal and aesthetic choices of the project. Candidates are invited to make understandable these issues in a clear and immediate way. High environmental quality: will be evaluated the ability to reverse the current model based on â€œconsumptionâ€?. Will also be taken into consideration ability to use and interpret the different bioclimatic solutions, encouraging the use of technology and / or innovative techniques or even visionary. The goal is to promote the culture of sustainability, encouraging the development of technologies and interventions in environmental quality and architectural.

The judgesâ€™ decision is final, irrevocable and sovereign to determine the winning projects according to the methods of evaluation established. The team of AWR and the jury reserve the right to not award prizes if the projects examined not have the necessary quality requirements. AWR and also the jury reserve the right to reallocate prize money on terms different from those of this notice in the event of Ex aequo and/or equivalent level.
