Teal for a Cause

A Letter from the President By Scott Avery

It’s not every day that we seize upon something that has winwin written all over it. Teal Tuesday has the potential to be one of

those opportunities! It’s simple, touches people, makes them smile, others notice, social media exposure increases, we get marketing bang, it’s very cost effective and best of all, we can help others while helping ourselves. Now, that’s a mouthful! What started out as a way to make someone smile by asking them how they’d look in teal, then handing them a scarf, has morphed into a very clever way to show our charitable side by supporting local causes.

In the short time since Teal Tuesday’s launch, team members have already found clever ways to spread the word. Scarves were given as gifts during a girls’ weekend, featured at an office event on projecting a professional image in sales, integrated into a daughter’s cancer fundraising efforts, used as pop-by gifts, promoted at open houses, and are being contemplated as settlement gifts. Two agents even started a Teal Tuesday at the schools of the teachers they have helped in real estate. The list goes on and on. The compliments received, “I want one.” The inquiries made, “what is this for?” The social media response and just the simple pleasure and fun you all have had dressing up in your office on sales meetings and office events, tells me we can really have a wonderful time with this. And it is tied to helping others. Who can resist supporting that? Our primary focus in the real estate business is creating and growing long-term relationships. What better way is there than finding ways to make people smile? Each person that you give a scarf to will think of you EVERY time they wear it or receive a compliment on it. They will then spread the word of Teal Tuesday and the local cause you’re supporting, gaining you a wider and more charitable presence in the community! This is a win-win! There is the potential to accomplish a lot with Teal Tuesday! Happy Selling, Scott

She later learned the many ways one can make a difference in people’s lives. Why Avery-Hess? “I picked Avery-Hess because everybody [is] very nice and professional to towards me, from the first phone call I made regarding real estate classes until now. She continues to be very helpful.”
