THE LEADING MEN OF REAL ESTATE

Douglas Elliman Real Estate

CHRISTOPHER LEAVITT Director of Luxury Sales

DETAIL FOR US SOME OF THE NEW AND EXCITING LISTINGS/ PROJECTS YOU’RE CURRENTLY REPRESENTING. I am so lucky to be the director of sales for the Bristol Palm Beach, West Palm Beach’s newest five-star luxury condo building. Our sales have been epic this season, and we are very fortunate.

WHAT DISTINGUISHES YOU FROM OTHERS IN YOUR FIELD? WHAT EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCE DO YOU BRING TO THE TABLE? I have the good fortune of frequently appearing on Mornings with Maria on Fox Business and In the Loop with Betty Liu on Bloomberg TV. This forces me to be on top of everything real estate both locally and globally at all times. I never know what questions they or their panels are going to throw at me, so I need to know everything and be up on all current facts and trends.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE LOOKING TO BUY A HOME IN YOUR AREA NOW? Use an agent who knows what they are doing and has the “inside track”: many good properties never hit the market and are sold by “who you know.”

WHAT ARE THE QUALITIES YOU POSSESS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR SUCCESS IN THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY? I make every customer feel like they are my only customer, and I make everyone feel important. Hand me the most difficult demanding person, and I can defuse them and make them feel comfortable in minutes.

HOW AND WHEN DID YOU GET YOUR START IN REAL ESTATE? I started at 17 in this business, interning in Palm Beach for a wellknown top producer. I then went to college at USC in Los Angeles and then moved to NYC, where I sold real estate for 15 years before coming back to South Florida. My wide breadth of knowledge between these two feeder markets (NYC and South Florida) really distinguishes me from the rest.

WHAT’S THE MOST EXCITING PART OF YOUR JOB? WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING EVERY DAY? We are only as good as our last sale, so I have to keep reinventing myself each day. This pressure motivates me to be my best every day.

“We are only as good as our last sale, so I have to keep reinventing myself each day. This pressure motivates me to be my best every day.”

WHAT WORD, OR FEW WORDS, BEST DESCRIBE YOU PROFESSIONALLY? Patient, intensely committed and a doer.

TELL US ABOUT A SHINING MOMENT IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER: When I sold the most expensive condo in the history of Florida last year. I have since been outdone, so I have another milestone to create!

ANYTHING NEWSWORTHY TO SHARE WITH US? I was just named in the top five agents for Douglas Elliman in South Florida. The competition is getting fierce as we have so many new agents that have come over to our firm with incredible books and sales volume.

IN WHAT PROFESSION COULD YOU SEE YOURSELF, OTHER THAN YOUR PRESENT ONE? WHAT ATTRIBUTES DO YOU HAVE THAT WOULD MAKE YOU PARTICULARLY GOOD IN THAT FIELD? I think I would make a good detective or lawyer. A lawyer because I am relentless and won’t give in under any circumstances. A detective because I can see through everyone. You can’t get by me with fibbing or lying, I will catch you every time. We become so sensitive to people’s innuendos and behaviors and even gestures in this business that it becomes very easy to read people and see through them.
