Homeleigh’s summer holiday fun

The residents chose not to go away this year but to have the holiday within the home. Themes for days were also chosen from one to one sessions with the residents.

Day one: Trip to the Malta Inn in Maidstone Philip Moore from Head office met us in the car park and helped out with the outing, where we had a picnic by the river, then a boat ride into Maidstone and back followed by lunch in the Malta Inn.

Day two: Pamper day Homeleigh This involved a lot of cream and face packs. It also involved a bubble bath with a glass of wine for Peter. We had a holistic massager called Trevor Reed who treated the residents to a relaxing massage.

Day three: Take away day and high tea This day was all about food! The residents enjoyed a takeaway of their choice delivered to the home for lunch and once that had been digested Barbara and Angela created a High Tea for all to enjoy

Day four: Fashion show This was inspired by Winn Cass who said that she would like to go to a fashion show. Instead we brought the fashion show to Winn with the help of a very nice young man called Gary. Gary came along and displayed his clothes collection that ranged from the 1930 to the 80s,

Day five: Whitstable for the day We parked at the castle at Whotsable where each resident was given a posy of sweet peas from the gardner. We then walked along the sea front to find an Italian restaurant. This was inspired by May Morgan who asked if she could go to Italy for a holiday, as this could not happen this year; this was the next best thing.

Day six: The tea dance Residents from Riverdale and Sunbury Lodge came to Homeleigh on this day to enjoy the Tea Dance and entertainment from Gary King.

Day seven: Day at the zoo We all had a great day out at Wingham Wild Life Park. We had lunch served next to a pond with ducks, parrots and chickens running around. This was followed by a leisurely walk around the park and a walk on the wild side with the Flamingoes!

Day eight: Away day for some and entertainment for others While some of our residents were enjoying Mote Park for the away day , Homeleigh had a singer come and visit at lunchtime. The residents enjoyed a great sing a long over lunch.

Day nine: Last day BBQ day The holiday ended with a BBQ that was cooked by Angela and Tony this was then followed by Trustee, Giles Craven presenting each resident with a medal for taking part in the holiday fun and to mark the start of the Olympics.
