FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

How to select the correct size Spring Aid for your vehicle or trailer Safety First - Before you start to measure or fit the Spring Aid we strongly advise you read the below: A. Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe place on firm level ground. Make sure that you use the correct jack/axle stands so the vehicle is safe whilst working on it. B. We recommend that you use suitable wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle from moving. Apply the handbrake at all times when working on the vehicle. C. Jack up the vehicle until the wheel is clear of the ground and remove the wheel safely. (See vehicle manufacturer’s handbook on how to perform this task safely.) D. NOT for use on front springs.

If you are in any doubt please contact a qualified mechanic.

How to measure the Gap in the Coil of the Spring 1) Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe place on firm level ground. Make sure that you use the correct jack/axle stands so the vehicle is safe whilst working on it. It is important you measure the gap with the weight (load) taken off of the coil spring so it is in an uncompressed state (this is why you have to jack the vehicle up). 2) We recommend that you use suitable wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle from moving. Apply the handbrake at all times when working on the vehicle. 3) Jack up the vehicle until the wheel is clear of the ground. (See vehicle manufacturer’s handbook on how to perform this task safely). Depending on the shock absorber fitted to your vehicle you may or may not need to remove the wheel in order to measure the gap in the coil spring. 4)

Measure the distance between the spring coils at the widest gap approximately half way down the length of the spring. (See Fig 1 and 2). Remember: by taking the weight off of the vehicle the spring will extend and “open out” and this is why you have to jack the vehicle up.

FIG 2 Measure the gap in the coils at the widest place approximately half way down the length of the spring.

Measure the gap between the coils.

There are 4 different part numbers to choose from, please select the correct part number from the chart below:

Fits into Spring Coil Gap 18mm – 25mm 26mm – 38mm 39mm – 51mm 52mm – 66mm

Part Number SA001 SA002 SA003 SA004

Fitting Instructions 1. Clean the spring and surrounding area and remove any rust from the spring with a wire brush. 2.

Place the Spring Aid into hot water for approximately 5-10 minutes so it softens up and becomes more pliable. It may help to cover the spring coils and the recess in the Spring Aid with silicone or similar, to act as a lubricant and help you slide it into position.

3. Straighten out the Spring Aid and insert it into the spring in roughly the correct position. Slide it around the coils so it is approximately half way down the spring in the centre. (See back cover - Fig 3) 4.

Some vehicles are fitted with either eyelet type shock absorbers or bush type (threaded stud) shock absorbers. These can be loosened to help gain a bit more clearance when installing the Spring Aid and then retightened. Make sure you research how to perform this task safely before attempting it.

5. Once installed check that the coil of the spring is located into the moulded recess in the top and bottom of the Spring Aid (See back cover - Fig 4) 6.

If you have removed the wheel, replace the wheel and tighten the fittings to the manufacturer’s torque settings. This information should be available in the vehicle manufacturer’s handbook. If it is not you should consult the relevant main dealer or a qualified mechanic.

7. Remove any wheel chocks, axle stands and lower the vehicle to the ground. Allow the vehicle suspension to settle (approximately 5 minutes) before driving the vehicle. 8. Once the vehicle has beem lowered, check that the Spring Aid is still in the correct position and has not moved during the lowering process. 9. Periodically check that the Spring Aid is in the correct position and correctly fitted and that all wheel fixings are tightened to the recommend torque.
