Bosch Service Convention 2018 roadshow off to a flying start The Protea Hotel at OR Tambo hosted the beginning of the countrywide roadshows, for the 2018 Bosch Service Convention on 10 November. Dereck Knight, Territory Sales Manager and Workshop Test Equipment Sales Manager started off proceedings by welcoming and advising all the delegates of the agenda of topics and speakers for the day. Regional Sales Director, Grant Palliser presented first on the subject of Bosch megatrends and drivers, in which the four business sectors within the Bosch group were explained, along with a selection of facts and stats attached to the group as well as the Bosch Mobility Solutions business sector. Interesting to note was the group’s 2017 stats with sales of 78,1 Billion Euros and a global staffing of more than 402 000 employees, whilst the mobility solutions business sector accounted for 47,4 Billion Euros of the sales and 232 000 employees. Palliser went on to present the trends in connected mobility, automated mobility, electrified mobility and digitalisation, touching on connected workshops, maps technology, autonomous driving, electric vehicles, hybrid batteries and Bosch augmented reality, as well as active schematic systems. He summarised his presentation with the following points • Connected vehicles provide the opportunity for new maintenance, repair and workshop services.
• Electrified vehicles will probably not reach significant shares before 2030. • Autonomous vehicles will probably not reach a significant share before 2040 • The increasing complexity of the modern vehicle will be the future challenge for workshops & distribution. Vinay Ramjattan, Workshop Concept and Warranty Manager followed Palliser with an overview of the Workshop Concept with 143 Bosch Car Service, Diesel Centre and Diesel Service outlets countrywide. Vinay addressed the objectives and obligations of the Bosch Service Marketing Forum (BSMF) as well as current and potential new current deal partners. He also elaborated on the Express Bosch Car Service brand. Dereck Knight returned to the podium on the subject of product marketing, talking specifically about “gasoline systems & ignition” and highlighting the Bosch products within these systems. Knight focused on the innovation in the modern component with greater capacity and longevity, he then expanded into the Bosch eXtra rewards programme for workshops, which is being re-branded “eXtra”.
