Children & Joy
Kids and Games Knowledge: crawling through the badger’s sett, feeding fish, experimenting in the Science Center – at the interactive nature museum inatura in Dornbirn, visitors are invited to discover, observe and try things out for themselves. Visitors both big and small are fascinated. Painting and design are the themes of the kids’ art workshops held each Saturday morning by the Kunsthaus Bregenz during the exhibitions. The Jewish Museum in Hohenems explains the Jewish history of the town at stations set up especially for children. Adventure: on the speedy summer toboggan run in Laterns, you dash around curves, across bridges and through two jumps – 800 m down into the valley. The fun park is located right next to the lower station, featuring a trampoline, climbing tower, flying fox and swings. The rope course in Ebnit close to Dornbirn is a fun adventure playground. Climbers both big and small can make their way across the terrain on ropes, across bridges and obstacles. Across suspension bridges, narrow beams, to a log cabin and mysterious tree trunks: that is the nature trail in Möggers. Ibex, wild boars, moufflons and other wild-living animals are at home in two game parks: on the Pfänder in Bregenz and in Feldkirch. Admission to both game parks is free. Falcons, eagles, kites and eagle owls demonstrate their flying skills during the Birds of Prey Shows on the Pfänder (May to October). Fun and Games: the numerous festivals held in the towns and villages are bright and cheerful. These include the medieval Montfort Spectacle (May/June) and the Street Artists’ Festival in Feldkirch (end of July). In mid-May, Bregenz is transformed into a “children’s town” for an entire weekend. A further event in May is the international Homunculus puppet theater festival in Hohenems. Singing afternoons and puppet theater are regular features at the Spielboden in Dornbirn (usually on Saturdays).
