Registration For the walks taking place between Monday and Friday (not including the Exclusive Nature Hike and the shale oil trail), you MUST register at the Tourist Board to be able to take part in the walk of your choice. For all the hikes registration is necessary not later than 6.00 p.m. at the Tourist Board under the telephone number +43 (5246) 5300-0 or in any of the village Information offices until 05.00 p.m. or by sending an e-mail before 8.00 p.m. on the previous day: wanderprogramm@achensee.info

Information For all hikes sturdy walking/hiking shoes/boots are a must, waterproof clothing or sun-cap (depending on the weather), a drinkflask and a small snack. Telescopic hiking sticks are recommended. It is important that you are fit! In case of accidents we claim no responsibility. Please note that the daily programmes can be changed at short notice due to the current weather situation. Program is subject to change! The Achensee Hiking programme is daily from Monday to Friday and is free-of-charge to all visitors with a valid AchenseeCard. For those without an AchenseeCard the fee is EUR 29.00 per hike.

24-Hour-Hike - 5th of July until the 6th of July 2014 Themed “Heading for the oldest Tyrolean inscriptions” - Etruscan inscriptions on the Guffert the 55 km tour leads through the stunning landscape of the Karwendel and Rofan mountains. For organisational reasons, larger groups can only take part in the walks programme if they give plenty of notice in advance. We shall be pleased to provide tour groups with their own mountain or hiking guides.

Summer Herbal Hike Between the 5th of May and the 30th of June there will be the opportunity for you to go on a herb and nature trail around the Karwendel Alpine Park free of charge. Apart from learning about the various herbs - some of which grow alongside the pathways - you may also be able to taste a few.

Shale Oil Hike This exculsive hike to the Shale Oil distillery in the Bächen valley starts at the beginning of July. To begin we take the bus from the Achensee Region passing over the “Silverstein” reservoir into the Bächen valley. The bus begins in Pertisau at the Information Office at 9.00 a.m. and travels through Maurach - 9.15 a.m. and then Achenkirch - 9.30 a.m. Awaiting you is a special guided tour through the distillery followed by a short break. The return hike follows the route over the mountains into the “Unterau” valley in Achenkirch - Christlum parking area.

Monday - 7th of July - 27th of October 2014

Return: Approx. 4.00 p.m. to the Christlum parking area (Bus-stop Christlum - Achenkirch)

Exclusive Nature Hike Appreciate the complex evolution of the Karwendel Nature Reserve, understand and observe the fascinating animal life, or simply watch the alpine goats close at hand! Between the 7th of July and the 27th of October, rangers in the Karwendel Alpine Park will take you on a three and a half hour nature walk departing from the Gramai Alp, past a wonderful waterfall and returning via the Larch Walk Circuit. Discover the unique World of Austrians largest Nature Park. • Meeting point: 9.30 a.m. at the beginning of the Toll road (Bus-stop Karwendel valley) in Pertisau Registration: Registration must be made not later than 05.00 p.m. the previous day by phoning the Nature Ranger, Sina Hölscher at +43 (664) 2629535.

Tuesday

Duration: approx. 4.5 h - Distance: approx. 9 km

Panoramic hike in Achenkirch The hike starts at the bus-stop outside the Information Office in Achenkirch and continues over the forest pathway leading to the “Zöhreralm” (1.334 m) where a short break is planned. From the Alm the hike then takes a narrow pathway to “Adlerhorst” (1.230 m). The downward hike is over a narrow trail leading back into the village and to the starting point. • Meeting point: 9.45 a.m. at the bus-stop outside the Information Office in Achenkirch (Gemeindeamt)

Charge: For the transfer an amount of EUR 10.00 is charged.

Wednesday

Duration: approx. 5 h - Distance: approx. 10.5 km

Nature Watch Tour to the “Gern Alm” or “Feilalm” The Nature watch leads through the “Gern” valley in the Karwendel Nature Research. Accompanied by professional leaders from the Nature Reserve we will observe plant and wild animal life in the area. With the help of Swarovski binoculars discover in detail the fascinating fauna and flora. Starting at the Information Office in Pertisau the walk continues over the “Seeberg” pathway leading to the “Pletzachalm” (1.040 m), onwards to the “Gern Alm” (1.169 m) giving tremendous views of the valley and the “Feilalm” (1.380 m) and the spectacular view of Pertisau and the lake Achensee. • Meeting point: 9.40 a.m. outside the Information Office in Pertisau (Bus-stop)

Thursday - May until the beginning of July Duration: approx. 5 h - Distance: approx. 10 km

Nature Watch Tour to the “Moosenalm” Under this years Motto “Where gray marmots and chamois meet together”, we will walk accompanied by Rangers from the Karwendel Nature Reserve, from the Christlum parking area through the romatic “Unterau” valley and then upwards over a narrow pathway to the “Moosenalm” (1.495 m). Here we will - with the help of Swarovski Binoculars - observe the fascinating characteristics of the gray marmot and with any luck catch of glimpse of a chamois or even an alpine goat! Our return hike over the mountain pasture with superb views of the Rofan mountains and the lake Achensee to the “Gföllalm” where we will stop for a short break. • Meeting point: 9.45 a.m. at the bus-stop in the Christlum parking area (Bus-stop “Christlum”)

Friday

Duration: approx. 5 h - Distance: approx. 7 km

Conquering peaks in the Rofan Mountain Range Starting from the top station of the Rofan cable car, our route takes us over a succession of peaks in the Rofan Mountain Range. In the course of this challenging whole day hike, you will receive an insight into the flora and fauna of the Rofan. Decisions as to which peak will be visited will be decided on the spot and according to the weather. If you have a particular destination in mind, please let the mountain guide know. The cable-car ticket is not included in the programme. • Meeting point: 9.30 a.m. at the bottom of the Rofan cable-car in Maurach (just 2 minutes from the school bus stop - Rofan cable-car)
