points, five rebounds and six assists in its 85-57 rout of UMBC in its home opener. Dumiak is the first player to lead an American team in all three categories in a game since Lisa Strack ’12 did so last season against Navy, posting 20 points, seven boards and three helpers on January 18 in Bender Arena.

Pouring It In American poured in a season-high 85 points in its victory over UMBC in the team’s home opener, its largest offensive output since the Eagles scored 87 against Columbia on January 4, 2009. The win was American’s first 20+ point victory since the Eagles defeated Holy Cross by a score of 67-57 on February 11, 2012. The 28-point margin of victory was also the most by an Eagles’ squad since American defeated Holy Cross (72-44) in the 2011 Patriot League Quarterfinals by the same amount. Finding the Sweet Spot The Eagles combined to drill in 10 three-pointers in Tuesday’s victory over UMBC as junior Alexis Dobbs led the team with four made-three’s, marking the most for a team since American sunk 11 shots from beyond the arc against Mount St. Mary’s on November 18, 2011. The 10 made three-pointers also rank eighth alltime at American for most three-point field goals in a single game.

A Little Help From Your Friends American notched a season-high 21 assists against UMBC, with Jen Dumiak leading the team with a season-high six helpers. The game was the first time an Eagles’ squad posted 20+ assists since American posted 22 against Lafayette on January 28, 2012. American then posted 20 assists in his second home game of the season against Coppin State with Jen Dumiak and Geleisa George leading the team with five apiece as seven players tallied at least one helper in the game.

60 is the Number American is 42-3 in its last 45 games when scoring at least 60 points, with a 2-1 record this season when hitting the 60-point mark. At one point, American had a streak of 30 straight wins when scoring at least 60 during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. Opening the Year on the Right Foot Jen Dumiak posted back-to-back 20-point games to open 2012-13, registering a career-high 21 at Western Michigan with 20 points against Oakland. She shot 46.2 percent from the floor against the Golden Grizzlies with a pair of three-pointers, going 6-for-6 from the foul line. The Carlsbad, Calif. native also led the Eagles with six boards and three steals in the game, which led her to be recognized with the first Anaconda Patriot League Player of the Week honor of her career on November 19. Big Expectations for 2012-13 American has been selected second in the Patriot League preseason poll, four votes behind 2011-12 Patriot League Champion Navy. Additionally, junior guard Alexis Dobbs, an All-Patriot League First Team performer last year, has been named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team. 20-20 Vision The Eagles finished the 2011-12 season with a 23-8 record, marking the sixth time in program history they have reached the 20-win plateau. American’s 23 wins matched the program record set in 1997-98.

Three-Time Patriot League Regular Season Champions

American University Women’s Basketball Making History American captured its third consecutive Patriot League Regular season title and fourth in the last five years. The Eagles registered the first undefeated conference season in Patriot League history, finishing with a perfect 14-0 mark in league play. The 14-0 record was also the best conference record by a team in program history, breaking the previous mark of 11 which was set on two previous occasions. Going Streaking The Eagles won 15 straight games during the 2011-12 season, starting with a 56-43 victory over Colgate to open Patriot League play. The streak was the longest in program history and spanned nearly two months. During the time, American outscored its opponents by an average of nearly nine points a game. Corkery Making History Head Coach Matt Corkery, the 2012 Patriot League Coach of the Year, accumulated a 86-39 record in his first four seasons at the helm at American, and his .688 winning percentage is the best in Patriot League history. Additionally, his .821 winning percentage in conference play (46-10) is also tops in history of the conference. Corkery has now earned conference Coach of the Year accolades in two of the last three seasons, including this year.
