The Eagles registered the first undefeated conference season in Patriot League history, finishing with a perfect 14-0 mark in league play. The 14-0 record was also the best conference record by a team in program history, breaking the previous mark of 11 which was set on two previous occasions.

Going Streaking The Eagles won 15 straight games during the 2011-12 season, starting with a 56-43 victory over Colgate to open Patriot League play. The streak was the longest in program history and spanned nearly two months. During the time, American outscored its opponents by an average of nearly nine points a game. 60 is the Number American is 41-3 in its last 44 games when scoring at least 60 points. Corkery Making History Head Coach Matt Corkery, the 2012 Patriot League Coach of the Year, accumulated a 86-39 record in his first four seasons at the helm at American, and his .688 winning percentage is the best in Patriot League history. Additionally, his .821 winning percentage in conference play (46-10) is also tops in history of the conference. Corkery has now earned conference Coach of the Year accolades in two of the last three seasons, including this year. Gettin’ Defensive Last season, American allowed 53.2 points per game, which led the Patriot League and was ranked 15th in the country. Hutchinson works primarly with the team’s post players and serves as the program’s academic liasion. In Hutchinson’s two seasons on staff at American, the Eagles have recorded a 45-17 record, including a 24-4 mark in Patriot League play. AU has won the Patriot League regular season title in both of his seasons. During the 2011-12 campaign, Hutchinson was instrumental in sophomore Sarah Kiely’s 6.3 ppg and 4.4 rpg season, a dramatic increase from her 3.4 ppg and 1.6 rpg a year ago. In 2010-11, Hutchinson was instrumental in American’s 22win campaign, which included a share of the Patriot League Regular Season Championship. He worked closely with All-

danielle

Patriot League First Team performer Liz Leer throughout. Prior to coming to American, Hutchinson served as the head varsity boys coach at Christian Academy of Indiana in New Albany, Ind., for two seasons. In addition to coaching the varsity squad, he supervised the other high school and middle school coaches in the program. Hutchinson also taught English classes at the high school. From 2004-08, Hutchinson worked as the assistant varsity boys coach at national powerhouse Montrose Christian School in Rockville, Md. During his tenure, he helped guide Montrose to numerous top 10 national rankings in the USA TODAY and Fab 50 polls. Hutchinson coached several future collegiate and professional stars, including Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Greivis Vasquez of the Memphis Grizzlies, and American’s Troy Brewer.

She was the team captain in her senior season, and graduated as the only student-athlete in program history to record 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, 200 assists, and 150 steals in her career. Hemerka helped lead the Wildcats to a 77-43 overall record in her four years, including a 23-9 campaign in the 2006-07 season in which they earned the program’s firstever postseason bid.
