career at American. He ranks among the top in the Patriot League in winning percentage (.674) and is chasing the conference record for the fastest to reach 100 wins. The Eagles need to go 3-2 in American’s next five contests for Corkery to match the current record set by Holy Cross’s Bill Gibbons, who reached 100 wins in 149 games. Corkery already set the mark for the fastest coach in program history to 50 wins on December 31, 2010 with a win over Brown. Additionally, his .820 winning percentage in conference play (50-11) is also tops in history of the conference.

Ready, Set, Go! When American gets off to a good start, they are proving to be a difficult team to beat. The Eagles are 5-1 this season in games where they lead at halftime, with its only loss coming on a buzzer beater in overtime to Hampton, and 9-0 when they hold an advantage with five minutes remaining. Finding the Sweet Spot The Eagles are third in the Patriot League in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 32.1 percent from beyond the arc. Jen Dumiak and Alexis Dobbs lead the three-point shooting effort. Dobbs is tied for third in the conference shooting 36.4 percent from beyond the arc while Dobbs is fifth shooting 35.7 percent from three-point range.

Spreading It Around Four players scored in double-figures in American’s back-to-back victories over Lehigh and Holy Cross, tallying the same point totals. Alexis Dobbs led the Eagles with 13 points at Lehigh while Ti’Asia McGeorge (12), Geleisa George (11) and Stephanie Anya (10) also scored in double-figures. American had four double-digit scorers again in its game against Holy Cross with Jen Dumiak (13), Sarah Kiely (12), George (11) and McGeorge (10) all hitting the double-figure mark.

A Little Help From Your Friends American has notched 20+ assists three times this season, most recently tallying 21 against Holy Cross on January 19. Alexis Dobbs led the effort and matched her career mark with eight assists as all but one player who appeared in the game registered at least one helper. The Eagles are third in the conference with 13.3 apg. 60 is the Number American is 46-3 in its last 49 games when scoring at least 60 points, with a 2-1 record this season when hitting the 60-point mark. At one point, American had a streak of 30 straight wins when scoring at least 60 during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. Leading the Pack Sophomore Jen Dumiak led the Eagles with a team-high 21 points, five rebounds and six assists in its 85-57 rout of UMBC in its home opener. Dumiak is the first player to lead an American team in all three categories in a game since Lisa Strack ’12 did so last season against Navy, posting 20 points, seven boards and three helpers on January 18 in Bender Arena.

Three-Time Patriot League Regular Season Champions

American University Women’s Basketball Pouring It In American poured in a season-high 85 points in its victory over UMBC in the team’s home opener, its largest offensive output since the Eagles scored 87 against Columbia on January 4, 2009. The win was American’s first 20+ point victory since the Eagles defeated Holy Cross by a score of 67-57 on February 11, 2012. The 28-point margin of victory was also the most by an Eagles’ squad since American defeated Holy Cross (7244) in the 2011 Patriot League Quarterfinals by the same amount. Opening the Year on the Right Foot Jen Dumiak posted back-to-back 20-point games to open 2012-13, registering a career-high 21 at Western Michigan with 20 points against Oakland. She shot 46.2 percent from the floor against the Golden Grizzlies with a pair of three-pointers, going 6-for-6 from the foul line. The Carlsbad, Calif. native also led the Eagles with six boards and three steals in the game, which led her to be recognized with the first Anaconda Patriot League Player of the Week honor of her career on November 19. Big Expectations for 2012-13 American has been selected second in the Patriot League preseason poll, four votes behind 2011-12 Patriot League Champion Navy. Additionally, junior guard Alexis Dobbs, an All-Patriot League First Team performer last year, has been named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team.
