Audubon Place Apartment Homes OCTOBER 2013 Community Newsletter What’s new at Audubon Place?....Be on the lookout for this NEW monthly newsletter that will help you stay up-to-date with the latest community events and news!!! Going forward this newsletter will be emailed to residents, posted in the NEW community boards at the Mail Station, and as always, will be available in the Clubhouse. In addition, the community socials will be posted on both the Audubon Place website and Facebook page! Please like us on Facebook so that you can stay informed of upcoming socials and community news!! Resident Community Watch We’re happy to announce that a resident community watch committee has been formed to contribute and enhance the community’s existing services. This committee is made up of current Audubon Place residents, and we are excited to be working together for the benefit of the community!!! If you’d like to be involved with our new community watch, please contact Sue Wasserman at writestuff@mindspring.com. Working together is the key to our success!! Community Enhancements • Mulch Mania!!!! This month efforts are being made to enhance the mulching in and around the Pet Park and Playground, as well as the school bus stop pavilion. • Residents and their furry friends can also expect to see a new paved walkway to the Pet Park and Playground, as well as additional lighting to make evening romps more fun!! Also in the works, is the addition of a paved path to the Clubhouse and Pavilion. Updates on this to follow!! • The Recycling Center will be getting a face lift over the next few months. • The Fitness Center got two new treadmills and new mats for the gym equipment. Come check them out!! • The Buncombe County Schools Transportation Department has been contacted to install caution school bus stop signs on Rockwood Road. • As mentioned above, new community bulletin boards have been added at the Mail Station to help remind residents of upcoming socials and community news! Community Courtesy Officer Did you know we have a Courtesy Officer at the property? Please feel free to call him to report any noise or community disturbances after business hours. Please remember that there are community “quiet hours” between 10:00pm and 8:00am. To reach the Courtesy Officer, please dial the main office number at 828-650-6570 and select Prompt #4. As always, for any emergencies please dial 911. Community Tips Here are some simple tips and precautions to remember: • Make sure to remember to lock your windows and doors, and report any maintenance issues to the resident office. • If you notice any light outages after hours, please report them to the office so maintenance can repair. • Take in mail and newspapers daily, and have a friend do it when you are gone. • Community amenities are for Audubon Place residents and guests only. If you notice someone who is not a resident or guest, please contact the office, or Courtesy Officer if it is after business hours. • Soliciting is prohibited on the property. If you see anyone soliciting, please contact the office, or Courtesy Officer if it is after business hours. • Please remember to follow the 15 mile per hour speed limit within the community and heed stop signs. • Please remember to park in designated areas only. Towing is enforced 24 hours a day for illegally parked vehicles at the owners expense. Community Reminders To keep our grounds beautiful for all residents, we ask that you please: • Remember to clean up after your pets at all times. Audubon Place is very pet-friendly and we have placed multiple doggie stations throughout the community for convenient usage. If you ever notice they are in need of a refill or to be emptied, please let the resident office know. • Take bulk trash items to the local dump. If you have something that you would like to donate and not discard, please contact a donation agency, as many places will pick up. Community Socials AUDUBON WANTS YOU!! To join us for our social events! All events take place in the Clubhouse unless otherwise noted. • Happy Hour - Thursday, October 3rd, 5-6pm **Drinks and light appetizers will be served. • Pumpkin Carving - Thursday, October 10th, 6-7pm at the Pavilion**BYOP, Bring your own pumpkin! Carving tools and templates will be provided. • Happy Hour - Thursday, October 17th, 5-6pm **Drinks and light appetizers will be served. • Food Drive Kick Off Party – Thursday, October 24th, 5-6pm ** Through the month of November, Audubon Place will be hosting a Manna Food Bank drive. To kick off the drive, please bring your nonperishable donation items to the Clubhouse and join us for some great appetizers and drinks! • Costume Party - Tuesday, October 29th, 6-8pm ** Prizes will be given out for best costume!! Drinks and light appetizers will be served. • Happy Hour - Thursday, November 7th, 5-6pm **Drinks and light appetizers will be served. • Resident Yard Sale- Saturday, November 9th, 8am-12pm **Residents can set up tables in front of their buildings or in front of the Clubhouse. This is a resident participation event, so make sure to visit your neighbors’ tables!! • Happy Hour - Thursday, November 21st, 5-6pm **Drinks and light appetizers will be served. • Pot Luck Dinner - Tuesday, November 26th, 6-8pm **Audubon Place will be providing a turkey, ham, rolls, and drinks. Be the first to stop in the office and sign up for what favorite side dish you’ll bring! *** From now through October 31st, Audubon Place will be hosting a Pet Costume Contest! Bring your furry friend to the Clubhouse in their best costume for a picture. The picture will be displayed in the Clubhouse, and will also be posted on our Facebook page. The picture with the most likes on Facebook will win $50 off November's Rent. 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive $25 off November's Rent. Winners will be announced on our Facebook page on Friday, November 1 st.
