A Message from Your LTG

Volume 1: Issue 3

Hi Everyone,

Hope your summers are going well! I know mine is, as I’m currently on an airplane heading for the International Convention(: Go on www.youtube.com/njkeyclub to check out our vlogs and stay updated on our New Jersey District Board adventures. Also, check out our new and revamped website, created by the talented District Webmaster, Matt Swulinski. The website address is still the same as before: www.njkeyclub.org. The online CMRF form will be updated soon to accomodate the new format. Thank you so much to everyone who came to the Rita’s Night on June 17th. It was nice seeing all of you! Although it is the summer, there are still same Key Club tasks to do. Schedule a meeting with all the club board officers to plan out activities for the upcoming school year. The Key Club year begins very quickly, so it’s important to start early to get ahead and stay organized. Go to page 4 of the newsletter for more tips! Lastly, CMRFs must still be submitted by club secretaries, even if there are no club activities going on. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email/call/text/Facebook me. Yours in Caring and Service,

Audrey Lee

Rita’s Night Recap

On Friday, June 17th, Lieutenant Governor of Division 19 Jerry Zhang and I held a fundraiser for The ELIMINATE Project at the Rita’s Ice in Parsippany, NJ. Rita’s generously agreed to donate 25% of the proceeds raised between 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM to the cause. The ELIMINATE Project is essentially a joint project between Kiwanis International and UNICEF to raise enough money to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. 1 baby dies from this deadly disease every 9 minutes. However, it is highly preventable, as a vaccine only costs $1.80. Flyers explaining what the ELIMINATE Project is were passed out by volunteers during the event to inform people who visited Rita’s what the fundraiser was for and spread awareness of the cause. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us! The event went extremely smoothly and Jerry and I greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication everyone showed to helping the cause and ensure the event’s success.

International Convention Recap The New Jersey District Board landed at Phoenix, Arizona on June 26th for a 3-day district tour before attending the International Convention. The first day consisted of watching the sun set at the Grand Canyon. The following morning, we all woke up at 4 AM to watch the sunrise. The third day, Wednesday, the board finally arrived at the JW Marriott Hotel, the site of the convention. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. From Wednesday to Saturday, the board sweated under the 115 degree sunshine, participated in informative workshops, and overall, learned how to make your Key Club experience more enjoyable and productive. From workshops explaining in more detail the ELIMINATE project, to workshops talking about how to better Key ClubKiwanis relationships, we all learned a lot about how to improve our skills and efficiency for our respective positions and divisions. Fact: Sacajawea and I are twins.

In other exciting news, Immediate Past Lieutenant Governor Jared Greene is officially a 2011-2012 International Trustee! Taken from Jared’s Facebook page
