AUDIO T Who are Audio T?

Audio T are the UK’s leading specialist retailers of Hi-Fi and Home Cinema equipment, 100% UK owned by three hands on partners. By far the longest established group in the country, we were founded in 1966. We sell exciting products guaranteed to provide you with a system that will thrill you for years to come. We don’t try to sell you the latest magazine favourites or in-house brands, we actually offer independent, real world advice based on what things sound like, how reliable they are and how easy they are to use. Our knowledgeable staff will help you make the right choice based on what you hear and what you like. We stock all of the key brands so we can give you impartial advice based on what’s best for your needs. We only stock products that offer high performance and value for money whatever your budget, chosen by staff who have the knowledge that comes from being genuine enthusiasts.

When is a chain not a chain?

What Audio T is not, is a chain of stores all selling what central buyers tell them to. All Audio T stores are different and are run by enthusiasts for other enthusiasts and anyone who wants an honest opinion in these days of boring uniformity. We don’t produce or import any of our own brands so we won’t try to switch sell you. And we don’t pay our staff extra commission to sell particular brands and nor do we pay them to sell you unnecessary guarantees. We just make sure that everything we stock is best in class and let you make the final choice! We like to build a relationship with our customers that will see you using our expertise for years to come. Though Audio T are widely considered as the most reputable stores in the country we also have a Price Promise that ensures you always get great value. Not requiring vast central resources to spend on buying and marketing means our overheads are low and our prices are keen.

How will good music and movies improve my life?

Music provides entertainment and pleasure. It can stimulate you and relax you at the same time. Music is pure emotion, but this will only come through on equipment good enough for you to respond to it naturally. The more natural the sound, the more enjoyment and satisfaction you will derive. We hope you will enjoy it so much that you’ll buy lots of new music and rediscover your existing collection. That’s what good Hi-Fi is all about and why we love it so much! Likewise you can be transported into another world by watching movies, but you will need a Home Cinema system that produces natural pictures and great sound. No mass-market packaged home cinema systems achieve this goal not least because most of them are devoting only 20% of the budget to the sound. We believe, as George Lucas does, that the sound and music are 50% of the entertainment in a film.

SHOPPING AT AUDIO T AND AUDIO T ONLINE How do I get the best sound and vision at home?

Independent journalists always give the same advice about buying Hi-Fi and Home Cinema - find yourself a good dealer and listen to the products for yourself. What do they mean by a good dealer? They mean shops that give knowledgeable advice, offer demonstrations and can deliver and install your purchase, giving you the benefit of their experience in setting up and positioning equipment to get the very best out of it. Everyone can see and hear the difference between equipment so don’t think you need to be an ‘expert’. A pair of appreciative eyes and ears are the only qualifications necessary when it comes to choosing a good system. Having said that, the world has changed and we have adapted to it with an excellent new on line store where you can discuss your needs from the comfort of your own home and have the products you want delivered directly to your door or use our click and reserve service. We have

I’m a beginner how should I use this guide?

If you’re new to Hi-Fi and Home Cinema then you might like to read the introductions to each section for a simple approach to the subject. After that use the Guide to get an overview of what’s available before coming into one of our shops for a chat and a listen. You will then have a better idea of what to ask us.

WE KNOW you won’t find better service or expertise. WE KNOW you won’t find better sound.

a chat box on line or you can phone us to discuss what’s best for you. We are happy to ship goods to you free of charge but this excludes some products that require special installation or those from suppliers who prefer us not to mail order. There is also a fixed £4.95 charge if the order is below £50. All items are subject to availability and we will always give you the best information we can on anticipated delivery dates. Please call or email us for prices or to discuss anything you are unsure about. Contact us via email on info@audio-t.co.uk and on the internet at www.audio-t.co.uk where, in addition to our online store, you’ll find our most up to date clearance list and news of our latest products. You can also find us on Facebook at facebook.com/audiotgroup and on Twitter at twitter.com/audiotgroup

Home Loans We can arrange home loans of equipment (subject to status) and also home demonstrations, especially for those customers who find travelling difficult. This is subject to arranging a mutually agreeable time and there is usually no extra cost involved (subject to the travelling distance). Delivery and Installation Having consulted the Hi-Fi Magazines, checked for reviews on the web, sat down and discussed your needs with one of our staff and then had a demonstration on your choice of equipment, you are ready to buy. We can deliver and set up your equipment to maximize its performance and we think you will be surprised at just how much difference a professional installation can make – be it correct rack building, cable dressing or just loudspeaker placement – this expertise can dramatically improve the sound and is part of the skill set you are tapping into when you buy from Audio T. Custom Installation Custom Installation ranges from something as simple as mounting a TV on your wall to specifying and installing a full multi-room system. It can include both Hi-Fi and Home Cinema along with lighting, blinds and other hardware. Whatever level of installation you choose we work with experienced installers to offer you the personal attention you expect. You may be about to embark on a refurbishment project, have an extension or new home built. Perhaps you have been thinking about a loft or basement conversion for a home cinema with a hidden projector and screen. Whatever your plans, Audio T can arrange these installations for you – working with our installers or your builders.

We also accept all major payment cards, Visa Credit & Debit, Mastercard Credit & Debit and American Express plus Apple Pay. In addition payment can be made by PayPal for online sales as long as the goods are being delivered to your home address. Making your purchase safe and easy We are authorised by the manufacturers to sell all the products we stock. This means we have trained staff who know what they’re talking about. We have an after sales service you can count on: our warranty is backed up by the manufacturers and we can arrange the repair of items efficiently if they go wrong. Turntable Upgrades and Servicing

We are able to service your turntable if you need us to and an upgrade can often produce considerable sonic benefits. Our stores have been working with turntables for years, making improvements that are very cost effective.

INTRODUCTION TO HI-FI AND HOME CINEMA as well as films but others don’t. It’s expensive to make them sound good on both so you need to think about where your priorities lie. Whatever you decide, our staff members are factory-trained so we can get it all working without any fuss and transform your living room into your own private cinema or concert hall!

WHAT’S IN STORE FOR YOU New technologies

Hi-Fi and Home Cinema come in a range of guises and as individual components, commonly known as separates, they offer the very best sound quality and the ability to upgrade easily. Combinations of these items can be tailored to build a complete system that will suit your sonic preferences, your home decor or whatever your particular needs may be. This modular approach to system building makes upgrading easy, as well as letting you add other components as your tastes develop, technology changes or your budget allows. 6

Having said that, some of our suppliers have introduced very high quality systems in one box and we stock a number of these amplifier/streamer combinations, some of which have CD players built in as well. We also carry a range of very affordable options from high quality radios to more comprehensive offerings that fit most budgets and room sizes. You can listen and look in our demonstration rooms (or at home) and decide what is best for you. A good Hi-Fi system will give you musical enjoyment that will excite you and involve you on an emotional level, just like live music. It will be an investment you will never regret. Likewise, everyone is thrilled by the excitement of surround sound when they visit the cinema. You can enjoy the same amazing experience at home; and not just with films. The same benefits apply to many TV programmes, sporting events and games consoles. Multi-channel sound from streamed content has made the experience ever more available. Home Cinema with surround sound is definitely something that the whole family will enjoy! All our stores can demonstrate how wonderful Hi-Fi and Home Cinema can sound, and you really need to discuss things before handing over your money. For example, some home cinema amplifiers sound great on music

Rarely has the Hi-Fi market been so exciting, with the arrival of music streaming from computers and the internet giving the industry a shot in the arm and sparking huge debates about the benefits of different file types and DACs. Not to mention the relative merits of turntables, CD players and streaming itself! All good fun and at Audio T you can come and hear the differences for yourself in one of our demonstration rooms.

Audio Streaming

There are several different ways to stream music but the basic principle is that your music is held in digital form on a computer drive somewhere - on your computer, in the cloud or at a music streaming company (see below). These digital files can be streamed into your hi-fi where they are decoded by a digital to analogue converter (DAC) and played back just like any other music source. Alternatively they can be stored on a network attached storage hard drive (NAS) from where they can be played using a suitable streaming product added to your Hi-Fi system. We can advise on which one would be best for your system.

Music Streaming Services

The internet, digital audio, and the advent of streaming have made listening to music today easier than ever. Subscription based music streaming services such as Apple Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Spotify, Tidal and Amazon give you the flexibility of listening to an enormous range of music from the comfort of your favourite armchair without the need for any physical media at all. All you need is a music

INTRODUCTION TO HI-FI AND HOME CINEMA streaming device connected to an amplifier, headphones or DAC and a pair of speakers or headphones and away you go. All the music is served over the internet and you access your music using a mobile or desktop app. Music can also be held locally on your phone or tablet so you can listen to it when you’re not online. Another benefit of streaming is that you can copy (rip) your CD collection onto your computer or NAS drive (or to the internal storage in some systems) and you can then browse your music quickly and easily. Your CDs can be stored in your loft or garage freeing up space in your home. High resolution downloads have also become available so you can purchase and stream music at a higher quality than CD. Your music files can be played back in any room of the house that can see your network. This, in turn, has led a number of manufacturers to produce systems that allow such multi-room streaming. They provide the convenience of selecting what you want to listen to from wherever you are in the house using an app on a tablet or a phone. They avoid clashes of interest too: you can listen to the radio in the lounge while your partner listens to their favourite track in the kitchen! They can operate wirelessly, making installation both simple and inexpensive; however, if they can be wired they will stream more reliably and sound better. These much simpler options mean that expensive (and quickly outdated) built in systems are rarely required.

selection of CD players. For those who want to give their existing CD player a new lease of life we also carry a wide selection of DACs to enhance what you already have.

Home Cinema

A Home Cinema is something the whole family will enjoy together (and one of the few things that will keep teenagers socialising with you!) We supply and install the best televisions and projectors, along with the most upto-date audio electronics. However flat screen TVs remain our most affordable solution and have never been better value. We are now selling OLED (organic LED) TVs and the picture on these is quite stunning. With self-illuminating individual pixels, they require no backlight and offer both terrific black levels and an even sleeker appearance. All the TVs we sell are now both 4K, with four times the resolution of older 1080p sets, and “smart” so they are able to access the internet to stream BBC iPlayer, Netflix and the many other services now available.

Audio T has always sold turntables and, to help you buy new music on vinyl in particular, we sell a range of Diverse Vinyl’s own label audiophile pressings and these are now available in many of our stores (check the website for details). We also sell a comprehensive range of pickup cartridges and phono stages to get the very best from your turntable.

Traditional technologies

Yet, despite all the above, physical media in the form of records have had a conspicuous revival. More and more music is becoming available on vinyl and the sales of turntables are booming. Many people say that records still sound best and most would agree that the record sleeve and its accompanying artwork and information are worth having in their own right. Equally a lot of people still love playing their CD collections and just want to enjoy them, so we still carry a 77

The Audio Note (UK) COBRA integrated amplifier. Our design goal with the COBRA was to create an affordable, powerful, integrated valve amplifier, capable of reaching a broader audience. We wanted an amplifier that would work with a wide range of speakers from other manufacturers, which are usually less efficient and less easy to drive than our own. Obviously it should also sound fantastic with a pair of Audio Note (UK)’s speakers!

Audio Note (UK) Ltd. Viscount House Units C, D and E Star Road Partridge Green RH13 8RA T 01273 830800 www.audionote.co.uk 10

And with the COBRA, that is exactly what we have achieved. We knew we would not be happy with a ‘cheap and cheerful’ amplifier; that isn’t the Audio Note (UK) way of doing things. So we included our latest generation of double C-core output transformers and used all of our

renowned skill and experience when selecting components (paying particular attention to the PSU arrangement), to create an extremely harmonious composition. The driver valves are GE 6AU6WC (triode-connected), with a GE 5670W as the phase splitter, and a pair of EL34 per channel in the output stage, running in Class A Push-Pull, producing 28 watts per channel. For the first time in one of our integrated amplifiers, we chose to include an onboard DAC, which uses the trusty Philips TDA1543 converter. There are coaxial SPDIF, Optical and USB digital inputs, along with three line level stereo inputs and – another first for an Audio Note (UK) amplifier – we have even included a remote control for volume and input selection.

Audio Note (UK) launched the original MEISHU integrated amplifier in March 1994. To say it caused a stir is not in the least an exaggeration, and it quickly became the standard by which all other 300B Single Ended Triode amplifiers would be measured. So when Audio Note decided to look at improving the amplifier, they knew the ‘New MEISHU’ would have to be something extremely special… Taking what they learned when developing their world-class 211 SET amplifiers, the JINRO, TOMEI and the legendary ONGAKU, Audio Note followed the principle that the elements in an amplifier circuit are like the lenses in a microscope. If these elements are not correctly chosen and adjusted, the image becomes blurred, and detail and information is lost. So to create a better amplifier, the natural idea was to simplify the circuit and optimise every element. This is exactly what they have done with the new ‘MEISHU Tonmeister’. This could only be achieved thanks to Audio Note’s ability to use their own extremely closely matched transformers and custom components. These allow them to exert total control over the performance and voicing of the complete amplifier, something that is simply beyond the possibilities of manufacturers who have to rely on ‘off the shelf’ components. The result is an amplifier that maintains the legendary Audio Note musicality, midrange magic and glorious tonal colour of the original MEISHU, whilst bringing new and previously unheard levels of information retrieval and dynamic expression. The MEISHU Tonmeister; the new reference.

One of the greatest names of the mid-twentieth century British hi-fi scene, LEAK is back with its first audio components since the late 1970s. The LEAK Stereo 130 integrated stereo amplifier is reminiscent of the classic Stereo 30 from 1963, with its tactile controls and walnut wood enclosure, yet nestling within are cutting-edge electronics delivering scintillating sonics with all manner of music. RCA inputs handle analogue sources including vinyl, thanks to the built-in MM phono stage, while USB, optical and coaxial digital inputs support hi-res audio up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD256; even the convenience of aptX Bluetooth streaming is included. It all adds up to an amp described as “outstanding” by Hi-Fi World whilst bestowing the title of Best Amplifier in the magazine’s 2020 Awards. For those with CD collections, the matching LEAK CDT is the Stereo 130’s ideal CD-spinning companion, incorporating the same slot-loading mechanism as the highly acclaimed CD players and transports made by LEAK’s sister-company Audiolab. And to complete the vintage aesthetic, why not combine with the wonderful Linton speakers from another of LEAK’s sister-brands, Wharfedale – recent recipients of the prestigious Readers’ Award at the What Hi-Fi? Awards 2020. Vintage aesthetic, contemporary features and state-of-the-art technical proficiency go hand in hand to herald this new and unique addition to the hi-fi separates scene – classic hi-fi, re-engineered for the modern age.   IAG House, Sovereign Court, Ermine Business Park, Huntingdon PE29 6XU T 01480 447700 www.audiolab.co.uk

The Myth that became reality, the Rega Naiad turntable. After seven years in research and development, the test bed project known as Naiad finally completed in 2017. A product unlike any other, created to push Rega’s philosophies to the extreme and prove beyond doubt that our lifelong mantra of ultra-lightweight, high rigidity plinths and the use of key materials in critical areas are paramount in constructing any serious performance turntable. At inception we did not intend to produce this turntable in any volume, building was restricted to two or three examples. However, after many distributors had heard the turntable whilst visiting Rega we came under increasing pressure to make a quantity exclusively for our distributors. We planned to make forty Naiad (one for every year Rega had existed at that point in time) purely as a celebration of engineering and Rega’s history. However, to make Naiad remotely affordable we had to order parts in quantities of 50 and this set the figure for the maximum number we would ever be able to manufacture. Each one is painstakingly assembled by hand by a team of our most highly skilled team including our CEO Phil Freeman. To this date, Rega has made and sold more than 25 Naiad at a cost of £29,999 each.

INTRODUCTION TO LOUDSPEAKERS or Bluetooth, controlled by a phone or a tablet. This approach offers neither stereo nor the ultimate in fidelity but it is a simple (even portable) solution that will suit many people. These speakers are great in kitchens and other rooms where a traditional hi-fi solution is unnecessary and many DAB radios are now equipped with this option as well. Bluetooth enabled speakers can also be connected wirelessly to many Panasonic TVs. Whichever alternative you choose you will still need to think about how the speakers will react with the room and where you will place them. As you would expect, our staff have great experience in matching systems to rooms and will gladly guide you. Loudspeakers have changed dramatically over the past few years and nowadays you can get outstanding performance from a vast range of stylish designs – some grand and imposing and others so tiny that you will barely notice them.

Your options are, broadly speaking, traditional wooden speakers that have been the mainstay of the speaker market for years and give great sound. They are available as bookshelf, stand mounted or floor standing designs and can look very elegant. The finishes of these speakers have also changed and now, in addition to a myriad of wood finishes, they are often available in both white and high gloss black and look stunning. If your goal is excellent reproduction of music then these are still the best choice, although they are larger than some of the alternatives.

And remember, loudspeakers are like car engines: they’re mechanical devices that need to be run-in. Treat them gently for the first week or two and you’ll find that as time passes their sound will improve noticeably.

The other approach to speakers is the custom installed way, where speakers are fitted discreetly into ceilings, walls and even rocks in the garden! This is a great way to lose those boxes but it generally compromises the sound unless you buy the very best. They are ideally suited to bedrooms, bathrooms, pools or patios, where ultimate sound quality is not the main requirement or the use of more traditional speakers would be inappropriate. Ceiling fitted speakers can also be used in home cinema systems (in combination with a floor mounted sub-woofer) or as a discrete solution to where to put the rear speakers. There are also stand-alone wireless options where speaker and amplifier are built into one box and the music is sent straight to it via your wireless network 2323

DPAMLCI From PMC, the Emmy® award-winning British loudspeaker company, comes the twenty5i series, developed from the legendary twenty5 series, winner of five-star ratings and awards worldwide. The i stands for improved and the twenty5i has been enhanced using the innovations and knowledge gained during the creation of the flagship fact fenestria into vibration control, aerodynamics and high frequency driver design. Comprising five models of increasing size, plus a dedicated centre channel and an active subwoofer of astounding quality, the twenty5i series refines PMC’s established ATL™ bass-loading concept with Laminair aerodynamic vent technology. The new 19mm soft-dome tweeter is derived from the unit featured in the fact series, that provides a stunningly wide audio landscape with phenomenal definition. To further enhance the tweeter, the floorstanders are mounted on anti-vibration plinth bars, isolating the speakers from the floor and dramatically reducing unwanted vibration transmission. The result is an even more vivid and defined image. Together these innovations have created a loudspeaker range with unsurpassed realism and clarity, that deliver true musical involvement. I N T R O D U CT I O N TO ACC E SS O R I E S The performance of your Hi-Fi or Home Cinema system is influenced most by your choice of major components, however, other seemingly less important items also play a vital role in the process. The cables, the stands and the supports under your system can all dramatically affect – and improve – the system’s performance. Spending relatively small amounts of money here can produce large improvements in sound quality. We aim to give you the best advice on finding the balance between what is truly worthwhile and running up huge bills on accessories you don’t need.

Monitor Audio believes that amazing audio is for everyone. And they want to connect with you. Their single vision is to become the accessible audio brand for all those who seek excellence in sound. Globally renowned, Monitor Audio speakers are sold in over 80 countries. This wholly British owned and managed loudspeaker brand has been at the leading edge of loudspeaker design and technology, perfecting the implementation of metal drivers. It is renowned for exemplary speaker cabinet construction and finish. They deliver a performance to savour for a lifetime. Phenomenal audio is more than the sum of its parts. Yes, it’s about the finest metals and craftsmanship, but it’s also about the warmth: the flesh and blood of the listener. The connection. They are Monitor Audio. Stands and tables contribute significantly to the way loudspeakers and system components perform. Loudspeaker stands not only place your loudspeakers at the correct height they also improve detail, dynamics and bass performance. Equipment stands enhance the performance of Blu-ray/CD players, turntables and electronics by dealing with spurious air and structureborne vibrations. There’s a vast range available in different designs, different materials and different colours, so there’s no excuse for not giving your system the support it deserves! Good cables are crucial: the interconnects that come free with equipment rarely offer adequate performance and you should certainly consider replacing them. Poor speaker cables will also strangle the sound of your whole system. Likewise poor video cables will not exploit the full potential of your TV or projector. Headphones have had a huge renaissance and new audiophile models are appearing every month. They can sound even better than your speakers and, with the addition of a portable DAC, you can listen to your favourite music in HD audio. We sell Bluetooth wireless models and also headphones for travelling with built in noise reduction. But most of all we sell a wide range to upgrade those supplied with smart phones and the like. The headphones in the box are almost always very poor and upgrading quite inexpensively can make a huge difference to the sound. Replacement versions can also come with the ability to take phone calls - a very useful addition if, say, you are out walking.

AUDIOQUEST AudioQuest’s Niagara Series power conditioners and low-noise AC power cables are meticulously designed to create a complete Noise-Dissipation System. Unique among all power products, Niagara’s proprietary X-Level filters and patented Ground-Noise Dissipation work evenly, or linearly, across a far wider range of induced noise frequencies. Additionally, Niagaras 3000, 5000, and 7000 feature Transient Power Correction, which supplies a current reservoir of up to 80 amps peak to greatly bolster the performance of any power amplifier. The noisy and compromised power supplied from the wall socket simply can’t compete with the Niagara Series. In AudioQuest’s AC power cables, ZERO Tech (no characteristic impedance) enables uncompressed current transfer and linearised noise dissipation while GND Tech (Ground-Noise Dissipation) ensures quiet backgrounds and minimal active-circuit misbehaviour. These technologies start in AQ’s foundational and affordable NRG-Z Series AC power cables. Wind Series AC power cables, such as Monsoon (seen here), take performance and noise dissipation to the next level with larger-gauge, superior metals. The top models in the series, Blizzard and Silver Cloud, also feature AQ’s patented 72v DBS (Dielectric-Bias System) with Level-X RF Trap that “pulls” RF Noise out of the cable, further reducing audio circuit misbehaviour. AudioQuest’s complete approach to AC power will unleash the system you never knew you had, allowing you to experience greater dynamics, bass grip, extended high frequencies, and the blackest background you’ve ever heard.

Pure Engineering…

Nic Poulson

ISOL-8 Teknologies Ltd PO Box 56402 London SE3 7WQ T 020 8856 8856 sales@isol-8.co.uk www.isol-8.co.uk

Nic Poulson’s background was originally in broadcast engineering. He trained and worked for the BBC as a sound engineer in the eighties. The corporation’s legendary high standards made a deep impression on him. After leaving the BBC in the early nineties to further develop his passion for audio, Nic had become an established electronics designer with success in both audio amplification, with ISOL-8’s sister company Trilogy Audio Systems, and also in the challenging field of international airport runway lighting systems. He then formed IsoTek Systems after identifying the need to tackle the problems of compromised power supply in Hi-Fi and AV systems. An area he believed was being misunderstood and neglected by mainstream manufacturers. ISOL-8 was then founded to continue developing Nic’s ideas.

Nic pioneered the use of multiple filter sections to tackle noise cross contamination between audio components. He also has championed the use of DC blocking to further improve sound quality. ISOL-8 has shaken off the negative image previously attached to power conditioning. In the past many poor designs, and the optimistic performance claims made for them, have meant that many people have closed their minds to the idea that there are substantial performance gains to be found. Nic’s innovative and no compromise approach has solved many of the performance shortfalls caused by compromised mains power.

Dave Morrison

The driving force behind IsoAcoustics is Dave Morrison, a man closely involved in planning and building radio and television studios at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for 20 years. Dave was part of the design team faced with building the world’s largest multimedia centre in Toronto: over 1.72 million square feet, with recording studios for drama, music, and chamber ensembles, special effects, radio and television shows. Dave’s IsoAcoustics speaker stands are built based on this experience, with a unique, patented isolation technology that allows speakers to “float” in free space, letting you

hear authentic, uncoloured sound. These eliminate energy transfer to and from surrounding surfaces. Bass becomes tighter. Overall imaging is enhanced. Your speakers perform to their full potential. IsoAcoustics has had various approvals from well-known speaker manufactures and is being discovered by more customers, at an ever increasing rate. The GAIA range, which won the EISA award for Best HiFi upgrade in 20192020, replace spikes on floor standing speakers up to 280kg. In a relatively short period of time, IsoAcoustics has grown rapidly and now sells in over 60 countries. GAIA II

ZaZen I

The IsoAcoustics range has expanded past its original beginnings in speaker isolation, now offering a full range of isolation products for entire HiFi systems. Applying the same proven and scientific approach found in the GAIA and Aperta speaker isolation products, three other product ranges now provide isolation for source components and amplifiers. The OREA range consists of four sizes of isolation ‘puck’, supplied in single units and weight rated between 1.8kg to 14.5kg per puck. The total weight of each component can be divided by either 3 or 4 and the closest puck model can be selected, matching the maximum weight for best performance. OREA are also suitable for placement under book shelf speakers. IsoAcoustics have also design two isolation platforms the DELOS and the zaZen - primarily designed to support sensitive turntables, featuring ‘preloaded’ wooden platforms ideal for isolation from the micro vibrations

GAIA Titan

transmitted by structural resonances during audio playback. The DELOS range are available in solid maple or walnut, with larger platforms and higher weight capacities for large high-end turntables or mono block amplifiers. The two zaZen models offer a highly cost-effective alternative for lower priced turntables, with capacities of 11kg and 14kg. Both zaZen platforms feature a smooth black finish for maximum compatibility with various product colour schemes.

In the centre of Reading, our store first opened in 1978 as Reading Cassette & Hi-Fi. Audio T took over, with Simon Walker as manager, in 1996. Our focus and passion has always been predominately music, concentrating on new technologies like streaming, high resolution audio and storage advice, as well as traditional vinyl and CD based systems up to and including the high end in both solid state and tube (valve). We have an enviable reputation in turntable set-up and service especially, but not exclusively, of Linn LP12s, Well Tempered and Rega along with a range of cartridges to complement them. Our strength lies in ‘system building’. We aim to enable customers to realise the greatest performance from their investment through our deep understanding of the products we carry.

1969 was a year to remember. Neil Armstrong stepped onto the Moon. Concorde and the Boeing 747 flew for the first time. Stateside 400,000 people gathered for a music festival at Woodstock. Back home Monty Python first aired and Led Zeppelin’s first album was released. As if all this wasn’t enough a new Hi-Fi store named Hampshire Audio opened in Chandlers Ford. In 1999 Hampshire Audio joined Audio T and, 50 years after first opening, we are still here with the same goal of providing Hi-Fi systems that enhance the enjoyment of music at home. The only difference now is that we also offer CD, streaming, multi-room audio and home cinema as well as the Hi-Fi medium of choice in 1969, the 12” LP.
