KITCHEN WALK 2018 - 5 INSIDE THIS TWO-TONED - 1 WHAT'S NEW #NTC - 2 #OLDHOUSELOVE - 6 ISSUE: MEET YOUR NEIGHBORS - 3 ASK THE EXPERTS - 7 MARKET UPDATE - 4
THIS PAINT TREND WILL HAVE YOU DOING A DOUBLE TAKE OF ALL OF THE WALLS IN YOUR HOME. HOME EC. SHOWS US HOW TO DIY THIS BRILLIANT UPDATE.
Why paint a room’s walls just one color when you can experiment with twotone painting? Two-tone painting creates visual interest by using two colors on one wall, divided horizontally or on a diagonal! You can even change the look of a space by creating visual interest with an accent wall this way. Accenting specific walls is especially impactful when working in a space with with natural angles. Kids rooms get an easy update with taping off fun angles for a two tone pop. Living spaces get a new look with a clean horizontal taped off line 3/4th's up the walls. Two tone painting also gives you an opportunity to infuse a bold color! When paired with a neutral or a bright white, a bold color pop adds loads of visual interest without overwhelming. It can also be used to create depth and drama to an otherwise plain space. A modern design element that is easy to do with the help of painters tape and a couple cans of paint!
Ready to give it a whirl but a little nervous about picking colors? We recommend Benjamin Moore Simply White paired with a deep neutral like Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray for a pretty pairing. Feeling bold? Think deep teal like Dark Harbor or Aegean Teal. Blush tones are also super popular right now and can add a subtle femininity to a room. We like Misty Blush and Bashful for a more neutral pink that feels more elevated and elegant. DIY tip: Get a dividing line as neat as possible with the help of painters tape to keep the paint from bleeding in an unattractive fashion. If you are painting two bold colors or contrasting colors next to each other than wait for the lighter shade to dry completely before you attempt to paint with the other shade.

Q. Which holiday is your favorite (for your Business) and why? A. I really love helping people for every occasion! Our most popular holidays are Mother's Day, Father's Day and of course Christmas. We do hand print art and speckled mugs like the one above for mother's day and father's day. For Christmas we have ornaments and also do a lot of hand and footprint art for grandparent gifts! Q. What is your favorite dish #nexttochicago? A. This question is so hard! Right now, I love Jimmy's Place Broccoli and Shrimp appetizer for dinner when I am at the studio late. I also love to order from Petra Falafel for lunch or a quick snack their hummus and appetizers are particularly delicious!

I LOVE all things local, especially the events that incorporate lots of my favorite local businesses. The 33rd Annual Oak Park and River Forest Kitchen Walk is exactly one of these events. Not only will you tour absolutely stunning kitchen renovations (all reno's have been completed within the last 18 months) you will be able to enjoy tasings from local food vendors and view beautifully tablescapes from some very talented local designers and merchants (including Home Ec.). The kitchen in Kathleen and Tony Osta-Smith's River Forest French provincial home is one place I am dying to check out! Their French provincial kitchen was designed for serious cooks, as their daughter Addison was the 2016 MasterChef Junior Champion! Addison will have special treats prepared for visitors to sample at this stop on the walk. Most importantly to me, the Kitchen Walk raises awareness and funds for New Moms, and incredibly awesome local organization that offers support to parents and their children in the most important areas of the life of a family - stable housing, job training, and family support. New Moms offers homeless young moms two years of transitional housing and family support services, helping them to develop key life skills around health, parenting and financial literacy. Their social enterprise candle company, Bright Endeavors, provides paid, hands-on job training experiences for new moms in need of professional training and confidence on their path to economic independence. New Moms provides comprehensive family support services, including child health and development monitoring and parent coaching. Learn more about New Moms at www.newmoms.org.

Jill Daniels is an experienced litigator, mediator and advocate. She focuses her practice on real estate law, mediation and collaborative divorce. Jill earned her law degree fro Loyola University Chicago in 1999. She began her career as a litigator, trying and arbitrating hundreds of cases. Q. DO I REALLY NEED A REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY TO BUY AND SELL MY HOUSE?
Technically no, but I would strongly advise against not hiring an attorney for the following reasons. As a buyer, you will need your attorney to negotiate for you during the attorney review period after you submit your offer and to help make
sure that all of the dates in the contract are being met. For example, if your mortgage is not ready to close by the date stated in your contract, your attroney will be there to ask for the appropriate extension. After your contract is submitted, there are very few changes that your real estate agent can make on their own. As a seller, you will need your attorney to coordinate and advise you on what needs to be done in order to sell your home. For instance, in Oak Park, you cannot sell your home without transfer stamps, As a seller's attorney, my team has a process in place to make your transaction seamless and check everything off of the list. I am passionate about helping clients close their homes as quickly and easily as possible. I am available via phone, text and email for my clients at all points during the transaction and have a trusted support team to help me help you. These are some of the reasons why an attorney is strongly recommended in your real estate transaction. Want to ask more? You can contact Jill Daniels at 630-270-3393 or firstname.lastname@example.org
