THe Ghost Light Guiding your way
Happy New Year! This is the premier issue of our official quarterly newsletter The Ghost Light. The name is significant because as service experts our light always shines bright to guide our patrons to a world class theater experience. It’s our means of communicating important information to you and will feature everything from staff updates, awards, and new policies to any personal news and announcements that you would like to share with the group. There was so much to be thankful for in 2010. I would like to thank you for a wonderful inaugural year celebration. We enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up and walking the red carpet. The photobooth was a hit and we’ll share some more of those photos with you soon. We spread some cheer with pizza, desserts and holiday spirit on movie night in December. We were happy to award our prize winners with a selection of complimentary shows, gift cards to premier restaurants, posters or Rock of Ages CDs. We know that year two at The Center will be a wonderful experience in patron service. As you all know, our house team has been everywhere from Austin, Texas to Kansas City touring and researching to make sure that our volunteer and staff experience is the best in the country! And, guess what? It is. We’re really proud of our team and are ready to implement our new ideas, focus and policies. Photos from our travel adventures and our celebrations are on the AT&T Volunteers Facebook page.

House News Volunteers Reap the Rewards - New Changes Make the Experience Valuable Volunteer Reward Program
We’ve made some changes to the volunteer program to enhance and reward your Center experience. The adjacent tiers and levels are shown to plan for your ranking through the new reward program. When you work for a show as an usher or ambassador, you have the opportunity to watch a show for free on the night that you volunteer. Every instance of volunteering, whether as an usher, docent, ambassador or office aide, also earns you one point in the Volunteer Reward Program. Points earn fantastic rewards towards: complimentary tickets, recognition of service, access to door prizes, priority sign up for events, in addition to volunteer appreciation events and private volunteer parties. When asked about the growth of our Volunteer Reward Program, Kelly McCracken said, “It is our pleasure to make the volunteer experience a welcoming and entertaining opportunity for all of our front of house team members.’ ‘We look forward to another wonderful show season offering world-class premium service for our patrons.”

Jorges restaurant served appetizers and we had a delicious cake with the grand opening photos of the Winspear and the Wyly on them. It was a pleasure getting to see everyone dressed up and ready for some fun. Here are a few of our team members walking the red carpet. To see additional photos from the event, look on our Facebook page: AT&T PAC Volunteers.

House Appreciation We have so many talented bakers on our team. We wanted to make sure that you were able to get their secret recipe to their favorite desserts over the holiday season. We hope you’ll try your hand at baking and share some with the group!
Chocolate Toffee bar cake By: Cynthia Devries 1 pkg - German Chocolate cake mix (Duncan Hines) 1 (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand) 1 (12oz) jar caramel ice cream topping 1 (8oz) carton whipped topping thawed 3 (1.4oz) bars English Toffee bars, crushed (I use Heath Bits - 1.5 pkgs) Prepare cake according to package directions and bake in a 9x13 inch pan. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Gently poke holes in top of cake with rounded end of a wooden spoon (wipe spoon clean after each hole). Combine sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping in a small bowl; pour slowly over cake. Spread whipped topping over cake. Sprinkle with candy bits. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Serves: 12 (or more - VERY rich)
Corn chip candy By: Butter flavored cooking spray 1 bag (10.5oz) Fritos 1 cup sugar 1 cup white corn syrup 1 cup creamy peanut butter 11 Hershey milk chocolate candy bars (regular size) Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with butter flavored cooking spray Pour Fritos evenly in prepared dish. Set aside. At this point, open all the Hershey bars and have them ready. In a medium sauce pan combine sugar, syrup, cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until mixture comes to a boil, remove from heat, add peanut butter. Stir until smooth. Pour over Fritos. Arrange candy bars over hot peanut butter mixture, spread chocolate over it to melt, as they melt spread with a knife. Let cool over night at room temperature. Next day cut into desired sized squares.
