Climb Mt. Fuji Atsugi’s Tours & Travel office offers several Mt. Fuji climbing tours during the July-August climbing season. These popular tours will give you a chance to climb the highest and most famous mountain in all of Japan. Climb with us for a truly unique Japanese experience!

Safety First Notice: Participants must attend a safety brief prior to signing up for Mt. Fuji Climbing Tour. Briefs will be held on Jun 6 & 20 (4-5 p.m.) at the Safety Classroom in Bldg. 146. For more information call or stop by Tours & Travel in Bldg. 978. Note: 2016-17 safety briefs still valid.

Be Prepared The Mt. Fuji climbing season is July-August. Climbing begins from the Fifth Station (7,700 ft); it usually takes 4-6 hours to reach the summit (12,388 ft) and about 2.5 hours to walk down. At the minimum, bring: yen, warm jacket, long-sleeved shirt, heavy socks, hat, gloves, towel, toilet paper, aspirin, comfortable shoes, raingear, flashlight, first aid kit, sunglasses, water, snack bars, sunscreen, chapstick, and your cell phone.

Pace Yourself Hike slowly and do not overexert yourself. Take frequent short breaks, drink plenty of fluids, eat “high-carb” foods, and avoid alcohol and tobacco. Stay on the trails!

It’s All Downhill Walk, don’t run down the mountain! Watch carefully to take the correct fork as you descend. Pick up a free Mt. Fuji climbing guide at Tours & Travel or at the Outdoor Recreation (Gear Rental) office in Bldg. 978.
