Aizu Wakamatsu Sightseeing

This time we are going to Aizuwakamatsu Castle also known as Tsuruga Castle. Mt. Fuji is 3770 meters / 12,389 feet high and will test your ability to climb in high altitudes to the limit. We will start at the Fuji Subaru Line 5th station. The course is about two-hours long that consist of vertical and horizontal rope ladders, vertical nets, rock climbing walls, and zip-lines up to 173 meters. Many of the stations are up to 30 meters above ground. Equipped with a harness and attached to a safety line, participants zip from tree to tree. It’s safe and requires no prior training other than a 15 minute introductory session upon arrival. This tour is restricted to those 10 years and older and at least 140cm / 56 inches tall. Maximum allowable weight: 130kg / 285lbs IMPORTANT: Athletic shoes required. Children must be accompanied by an adult during the course, and no more than two children per adult. Our next visit will be Naraijuku where you can immerse yourself in Japanese history and culture where well-preserved wooden buildings from the Edo-period stretch over 1 km. Come with us to Kawagoe City and admire the radiance of lanterns and revel in the celebration of the “Million Lantern Festival”. Kawagoe is known as “Little Edo”, a historical town noted for the Kitain Temple that was founded by a Buddhist protest in 830 a.d. The nine-headed Dragon God of Lake Ashi is worshiped, while red rice and sake is offered to the Gods. From the Imperial Palace, you’ll have a perfect photo opportunity against the backdrop of Nijubashi (double layer bridge). Around lunchtime, we’ll arrive at the oldest Temple in Tokyo. You will have time to eat lunch, visit the temple and do some shopping. We’ll then enjoy a boat cruise down the Sumida River. Admissions are included.

All dogs must have current rabies, distemper/parvo and Bordetella shots. Cats need rabies and distemper/parvo. Proof of vaccinations will be required before any animal can be boarded at the facility. Any animals exhibiting vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing or runny eyes at the time of kennel entry won't be accepted and will be referred to a veterinarian. Climb Mt. Fuji Atsugi’s Tours & Travel office offers several Mt. Fuji climbing tours during the July-August climbing season. These popular tours will give you a chance to climb the highest and most famous mountain in all of Japan. Climb with us for a truly unique Japanese experience!
Safety First Notice: Participants must attend a safety brief prior to signing up for Mt. Fuji Climbing Tour. Briefs will be held on Jun 6 & 20 (4-5 p.m.) at the Safety Classroom in Bldg. 146. For more information call or stop by Tours & Travel in Bldg. 978. Note: 2016-17 safety briefs still valid.
Be Prepared The Mt. Fuji climbing season is July-August. Climbing begins from the Fifth Station (7,700 ft); it usually takes 4-6 hours to reach the summit (12,388 ft) and about 2.5 hours to walk down. At the minimum, bring: yen, warm jacket, long-sleeved shirt, heavy socks, hat, gloves, towel, toilet paper, aspirin, comfortable shoes, raingear, flashlight, first aid kit, sunglasses, water, snack bars, sunscreen, chapstick, and your cell phone.
Pace Yourself Hike slowly and do not overexert yourself. Take frequent short breaks, drink plenty of fluids, eat “high-carb” foods, and avoid alcohol and tobacco. Stay on the trails!
It’s All Downhill Walk, don’t run down the mountain! Watch carefully to take the correct fork as you descend. Pick up a free Mt. Fuji climbing guide at Tours & Travel or at the Outdoor Recreation (Gear Rental) office in Bldg. 978.

The Youth Center/School-Age Care 2018 summer camp for youth in DODDS kindergarten through 12 years old will be conducted JUN 18-AUG 24. The summer camps are staffed by both Camp Adventure counselors from the U.S. and local CYP professionals. Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack will be provided on all camp days. If camp participants choose not to attend scheduled field trips, we ask parents to arrange for alternate childcare, as we do not offer a stay back program. If you are not currently enrolled in the regular SAC program, please bring a copy of the sponsor’s and spouse’s most recent LES and/or pay statements when registering to calculate program fees.
