Toeing the line between a beer and a fruitinfused alcoholic beverage may be a popular game that many breweries fail at, but 10 Barrel Brewing have done it well again with their Raspberry Sour Crush. Despite the sour prominence of raspberry on the palate, there’s still a decent lager underneath. It makes for a sweet/sour crisp concoction. The “Drink beer outside” suggestion near the bottom of the can really sums it up - this is a perfectly refreshing summer beer.

A thin white head forms on this beer but quickly disappears when poured in a tulip glass. The scent boasts a lot of raspberry and seems reminiscent of sweet raspberry candy or jam. The first taste is muted at first before sour raspberries hit the tongue. Pair it with a light balsamic vinegar salad or a berry tart. During the hot summer months, you can also try it over vanilla ice cream or sorbet.

This is a nice pink-colored beer. Is it really beer? I'm not a fan of the sours but this one is a little better than OK. I would consider this more of a sour wine cooler. It has a nice berry aroma but just doesn't really please my taste buds.

The debate over pizza making now spills over into brewing with Golden Road Brewing’s Pineapple Cart. Surprisingly, the pineapple isn’t that prominent. The sweetness of strawberry on the middle of the palate and the sour citrus of blood orange on the tip of the tongue somewhat mutes the tropical fruit. My verdict? If you don’t like it on your pizza, you won’t like it with your suds. But a decent, crisp wheat ale sits somewhere under the superfluous fruit.

A substantial white head tops this hazy beer after pouring it in a wheat beer glass. The smell contains a generous amount of fruit notes. Flavors of pineapple, strawberry, orange and banana hit the tongue, with carbonation staying in the finish. This beer could see a rise in popularity during late summer due to the low alcohol content. It might make an excellent addition to your favorite fruity baked goods like pineapple upside-down cake.

I enjoy the sweet pineapple flavor in this beer. Some beers are billed as pineapple-based but then it's more of an IPA. Not this one. It's very easy to drink and very refreshing on a hot day. It does have a little blood orange and strawberry to sweeten it up but they're not very prominent.

I love uniqueness and craftsmanship in a beer, and Gorch Fock definitely has both of those; then again, I’d expect no less from Indiana’s own 3 Floyds. This brew adheres to the adage of “Everything in moderation”: Sweet but not too sweet, strong but not overpowering, and with just enough hoppiness to remind you that this is, indeed, a beer. If you want a lighter beer that’s wellmade with actual flavor, you owe it to yourself to pick this up.

A decent white head crowns this beer when poured in a pilsner glass. Sweet malt notes control the scent with some bitter hops in the end. Likewise, after a burst of carbonation on the tongue, the malt flavors return with the initial tasting and stay in the finish. People who enjoy traditional lagers should drink this seasonal beer while it’s available. Pair it with Colby cheese or a lighter dessert like Mediterranean baklava.

This beer pours a pale gold with a white head but lacks on the carbonation. It's got a nice, crisp, slight lemon smell with a little yeast. The citrus hop is light up front, but the transition to the bread yeast finish is brisk and enjoyable. And it has a sweet hops flavor in the finish.
