THE 2010 SEASON The Bowling Green Hot Rods, the Class A affiliate of the American League East Champion Tampa Bay Rays, welcomed over 250,000 attendees to events at Bowling Green Ballpark in 2010. The Hot Rods established a new franchise record as 235,412 fans attended games in the 2010 season, an average of 3,513 fans per date. In addition to Hot Rods baseball, Bowling Green Ballpark was the site for community events including college and high school baseball games, charity softball games, the WNKY Fall Premiere Party, the LifeSkills Run for Autism, and the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society Telethon. In April, Bowling Green Ballpark also hosted the largest crowd ever for a college baseball game in the Commonwealth of Kentucky when the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky University defeated the University of Kentucky Wildcats, 24-8, before a crowd of 6,183. The Hot Rods have built a reputation for providing affordable family fun in a comfortable, convenient setting. Each game is a new experience featuring tomorrow’s Major League stars and entertainment such as post-game fireworks, classic car shows, live pre-game concerts, mascots, kids activities, and awesome giveaways including t-shirts, caps, and bobbleheads. With features like state-of-the-art video boards, an open-air concourse and an awning which shades nearly half the ballpark, few stadiums can offer the experience fans enjoy at Bowling Green Ballpark. In fact, readers of the Daily News and The Amplifier have named Hot Rods games as the Best Place for a Date and Favorite Place for a Family Outing in 2010!
The Hot Rods are committed to building strong partnerships in the community. Since January 2009, the Bowling Green Hot Rods have committed over $175,000 worth of goods, services and monetary donations to organizations and causes in South Central Kentucky. In 2010 alone, the Hot Rods staff and players have contributed over 1,400 volunteer hours to community causes. Through programs like the Coca-Cola Most Improved Student Program and Axle’s Book Buddies and Fueled By Art, both presented by the Law Firm of Flora Templeton Stuart, the Hot Rods have motivated students using its brand of fun.
