The Shops Buckhead Atlanta

OUTDOOR SPRING SHOPPING It doesn’t get much better than shopping in Atlanta’s many open-air shopping districts. Take your pick – trendy, high-end, tried and true, or affordable. Atlanta has it all. BY CAROL CARTER ATLANTIC STATION If you want to know what urban redevelopment looks like, travel no further than Atlantic Station, which underwent a metamorphosis from being the brownfield site of a former steel mill to one of Atlanta’s most stylish and go-to stops for shoppers. After visiting the giant IKEA store (Can you find the exit?), shop Banana Republic, Target, Victoria’s Secret and West Elm to name just a few of the well-known retailers beckoning shoppers. Hungry? Treat yourself to soup and salad at Salata or a taste of the Irish at Meehan’s Public House. Insider tip: Different seasons bring different events to Atlantic Station. In the springtime, bring the kiddos for an Easter egg hunt. www.atlanticstation.com

WESTSIDE PROVISIONS DISTRICT One plus one equals one dynamic shopping destination. Westside Provisions District was born when Westside Urban Market (once

United Butchers Abattoir) and White Provision (once a meatpacking plant) joined forces via a footbridge to become a sought-after shopping haven. Today, it’s where shoppers seek out treasures at Anthropologie, Free People, Peridot West, Little Barn Apothecary and plenty more. Get your java jive at Brash Coffee before or after dining on a chicken enchilada at Taqueria del Sol. Don’t leave without a treat from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Insider tip: The patio at JCT. Bar is just right for people watching and sharing small plates. www.westsideprovisions.com

PONCE CITY MARKET One of the hippest and hottest shopping destinations in Atlanta, Ponce City Market is steeped in retail history. The development, once a giant Sears, Roebuck & Co. warehouse and store, made Travel + Leisure’s list of coolest tourist attractions. Roam the massive building, constructed in 1926, and you’ll find

classic clothes for women at Abbey Glass and pick up the ingredients needed to craft a yummy cocktail at 18.21 Bitters. Remember Fido with a surprise from Ace & Jack. Visit the Food Hall for Indian street food at Botiwalla, wildly popular burgers at H&F, coffee at Dancing Goats and much more. Insider tip: If you’re coming off the Atlanta BeltLine with your dog, pooches are welcome in the courtyard. www.poncecitymarket.com

SHOPS AROUND LENOX Just across the street from Lenox Square (anchored by Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus and Macy’s), find the outdoor Shops Around Lenox. Here’s where to shop Draper James (Reese Witherspoon’s retail offering of fashion and home goods) or the expansive Crate & Barrel. Visit fab’rik for clothing, shoes and accessories and Kendra Scott for jewelry and gifts. Try some North Indian cuisine at Bhojanic or grab a smoothie at Roots Juices. Insider tip: Keep a lookout for street art from well-known artists HENSE and Peter Ferrari. www.shopsaroundlenox.com
