ATEÏS Guest Room Management Systems

ATEÏS Guest Room Management Systems are geared towards bringing control to the user by integrating devices operating on multiple protocols on a single platform. ATEÏS automation systems break through barriers in communication and installation restrictions to provide seamless control and monitoring of electrical devices and household appliances. All products from ATEÏS Guest Room Management Systems are built on the KNX protocol for applications as diverse as energy management; lighting control; blind and shutter control; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning control; security and safety; operation and visualization; and automation and remote access. All these functions can be controlled, monitored and signaled via a uniform system without the need for extra control centers. The performance and operation of all systems can be visualized on touch screen panels for regular monitoring and control. This is relevant to address the critical need in today’s society to switch to energy efficient and environmentally friendly products. ATEÏS automation systems are designed for minimal energy wastage though continuous tracking of power consumption and usage patterns, creating awareness among users to conserve energy.

GRMS ATEÏS Guest Room Management Systems

KNX is the most established communication protocol in the world for building and home automation, providing the only bus system compatible with all transmission media¬–Twisted Pair, Powerline, Radio Frequency, and Ethernet/IP. The greatest strength of KNX is that it is an open protocol that allows interoperability and internetworking of products from different manufacturers who are members of the KNX association. This means whether a building is new or old, the existing building control system can be upgraded or adapted to KNX compatible systems with less effort. For example, radio transmission is ideal for buildings undergoing renovation, where new wiring must be minimized. The returns far outweigh the investment, offering a high degree of flexibility and control. Interlinking all communicating devices with a single bus considerably reduces design and installation time. A KNX installation can be easily adapted to new applications and is easily extendable. New components can be easily connected to the existing bus installation.

Highlights of the

solution

l  A global standard for building and home automation l  Single technology for installers and planners l  Distributed control and intelligence provides great flexibility l  Single configuration software l  Easy maintenance l  Low-voltage power supplies l  Open to various communication media l  Interoperability and interworking of products from different manufacturers

ATEIĚˆS Guest Room Management Systems Compliance with International Standards KNX is approved as an International Standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3); European Standard (CENELEC EN 50090 and CEN EN 13321-1); and Chinese Standard (GB/Z 20965); and US Standard (ANSI/ASHRAE 135).

Touch Screen Panels for Centralized Monitoring & Control The room atmosphere can be entirely controlled from a single location by programming a touch screen panel (handheld or wall-mount) to communicate with all KNX devices. Touch screen panels with color displays indicate the status of all devices in the room along with visualizations and graphics representations of data such as room temperature, current consumption of devices, lighting scenarios and so on. Audio-Visual Control by Touch The requirements for customized audio-visual applications in a guest room or apartment are increasing with the advent of dedicated entertainment systems that match the aesthetics of different rooms. Visitor comfort is equated with creative lighting and music that can bring forth the desired ambience in the room. ATEIĚˆS touch screen panels can be programmed for remote control of music and volume from everywhere within the house or activation of different music systems. Different lighting scenarios can be selected from the panel to complement the moods of people in the room.

Guest Room Management Systems

GRMS ATEÏS Guest Room Management Systems ‘Smart Metering’ for Energy Conservation Intelligent energy meters provide live data on energy consumption patterns so that consumers can track their energy usage patterns and make decisions to control wastage. This method of ‘smart metering’ of energy consumption, when combined with information on the temperature and humidity conditions in the room, provides a comprehensive visualization of the overall user pattern in the room. For example, heating and lighting in a building can be regulated to meet the power consumption budget for the building by integrating intelligent energy meters and automation devices. This allows up to 50% energy savings (as per studies conducted by the KNX association), thereby making it possible to construct more environmentally friendly buildings.

Access Control & Security Access control systems allow guests into hotel rooms by means of keycards, which offer greater flexibility and security when compared to conventional key-based locking systems. The cards are easy to program, and all entrances and exits from the rooms are logged into a server managed by the hotel staff. Motion sensors installed in guest rooms automatically activate lighting and air conditioning when guests enter rooms. The same detection feature can be used as a security function to alert staff of the presence of individuals in prohibited areas.

Hotel Management Made Easy over KNX An advanced hotel management software interacts with KNX devices to allow monitoring and control of room functions, hotel service functions, supervision of critical zones, generation of access codes for guest room access, etc., through a personalized graphical user interface.

O rder codes T ransponder reader with plexglass support frame

The readers are cable of touch free recognition of key cards from a distance of 30mm, and they can identify up to 4 classes of users. The device has two binary inputs (potential free contacts) and two output relays. The inputs can be used, for instance, to control whether the door lock has been opened or closed or other signals coming from external switches/contacts (i.e. windows, bathroom emergency alarms, etc.). The outputs can be used for opening the door or turning on the courtesy light inside the room. Four LEDs and icons on the front side of the card indicate the status of the room as per the guest’s requirements–Access Allowed/Not Allowed; SOS request; Room Service Call; and Guest Status (Do not disturb, busy, etc.). The LEDs and icons can be configured in association with other alarms or events. The card reader can be integrated with room security devices such as safes. If a guest room safe is accidentally left open, the transponder reader does not allow hotel staff, room service and maintenance personnel access to the room. In such cases, the guest’s transponder card alone is recognized by the card reader.

GRMS DMA Dimmer Actuators

F eat u res l  Adjustable dimming threshold levels l  Relative and absolute dimming l  Short circuit, overload, and overheat protection l  Delay and recovery functions

DMA-KNX dimmer actuators enable adjustment of the brightness of light in guest rooms and staircases with configurable light scenes and programmable functions. The dimmer modules provide control on 1, 2, 4 and 6 channels to switch and dim incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, and compact fluorescent lamps. Each output channel individually supports functions such as status response and recovery, over temperature protection and alarm, scene control, scene dimming, sequence control, staircase lighting, and heating. The dimming actuators enable both absolute and relative dimming with options to set lower and upper threshold levels, in addition to brightness levels and dimming fade time for each selection. A delay function allows programming of delay times for the operation of each relay after power is switched on. Each channel can be monitored with functions that record the status of each channel output and the duration of output on the channel. A recovery function restores the channel output and status after power is switched on.

SRL Switch Actuators

F eat u res l  Compliant with international standards EN60669-21, EN60669-1, and EN50090-2-2 l  Adjustable switching delay after power on l  Switching for up to 12 channels l  Delay and recovery functions

SRL-KNX switch actuators are used to control switched loads such as lighting, curtain control, heating control, etc. The relay modules provide switching for 4, 8, and 12 channels. Each output channel individually supports functions such as status response, delay, flashing, staircase lighting, scene control, curtain control and heating. The functions of each channel work in three modes–switch actuator, heating actuator, and inactive. The SRL416A (4 channels) does not require an additional power supply. The 8- and 12-channel models, SRL816A and SRL1216A, require additional 24V DC power supply if all channels are used simultaneously. A delay function allows programming of delay times for the operation of each relay after power is switched on. Each channel can be monitored with functions that record the status of each channel output and the duration of output on the channel. A recovery function restores the channel output and status after power is switched on.

GRMS SNS Presence Detector

F eat u res l  360˚ presence detection l  Intelligent control for saving energy l  Integration with music systems, lighting, and HVAC systems l  Adjustable sensitivity levels l  Security functions

SNS-KNX ceiling-mount motion sensors detect the presence or absence of individuals in a room or corridor and accordingly activate or deactivate room functions such as lighting and air conditioning. When no movement is detected, the AC and lights can be configured to be automatically turned off to prevent wastage of energy. A brightness sensor measures room brightness on a continuous basis and compares it with a brightness threshold set by a potentiometer on the detector. The head of the detector can be oriented at 90˚ and can be used to adjust the detection area according to the room configuration. Depending on movement detection and brightness, the presence detector can trigger commands to control lighting, shutter/ blinds, heating, and activate various scenarios according to the presence or absence of individuals. The presence detector operates in three modes, which can be selected by adjusting three potentiometers on the device. A ‘priority’ function allows overriding of set points or preset dimming level by using a pushbutton. The 2-channel detector can be configured either as a master or slave. Brightness measurement is inactive when the detector operates as a slave device. The motion detection feature can be applied in room security mechanisms to work in conjunction with other security and monitoring devices.

GRMS PSX Power Supply Units

F eat u res l  Short circuit and overload protection l  Integrated choke l  Inbuilt reset switch l  Low voltage bus terminals

PSX-KNX power supply units can be installed on system distribution boards or fixed as surface, flush mounted, or DIN rain mounted devices. For each bus line, at least one power supply unit is needed. Up to two power supply units may be attached to a single bus line. The devices are equipped with an integrated coil for decoupling the voltage supply from the bus and a switch for interrupting the tension and reconnection of the user buses connected to the line. 160mA power supply unit

Three LEDs on the PSX indicate the status of the device, namely, normal operation, reset position, and fault conditions such as short or overload. Every line/bus must have a separate power supply with current ratings to support the total number of devices per line. A separate power supply for each line ensures that the network continues to be operational if one or more lines fail. The majority of KNX devices operate on 10 mA and few require up to 20mA. The PSX16 (160 mA) power supply can drive up to 16 KNX devices; PSX32 (320 mA), up to 32 devices; and PSX64 (640 mA), up to 64 devices per line.

320mA power supply unit

It is recommended that the maximum distance between a power supply unit and KNX device be 350m.

INT-BC Line/Bus Coupler and Repeater

The INT-BC line/bus coupler provides a data connection between two separate EIB/KNX bus lines and also isolates the bus lines from each other in order to limit line interference. The device can be used as a line coupler, backbone coupler or repeater. Two LEDs on the DIN rail mount device indicate data reception on the primary and secondary bus lines. Additional LEDs indicate the normal operating mode and addressing mode of the coupler.

F eat u res l  Triple application as line coupler, backbone coupler, and repeater l  Up to 15 line/bus couplers can be connected within a single area l  Up to 15 area couplers to expand the number of areas

The line/bus coupler helps create a hierarchical structure for a large KNX network by dividing the network into different functional units comprising areas and lines. The advantage of dividing the KNX network into areas and lines and further into line segments using line/bus couplers is that data traffic on different lines or areas do not interfere with each other. Each line/bus can drive up to 64 KNX devices if a 640 mA power supply is used. If is necessary to connect more than 64 devices on a single line, the line/bus coupler can be used as a repeater to add another segment to the same line. By using a line/bus coupler, it is possible to combine up to 15 such lines within a single area. Up to 15 different areas can be connected by using the line/bus coupler as an area coupler.

HMSX Hotel Management Solutions for KNX Devices

F eat u res l  Generation and identification of access cards l  Notification and management of room service l  Lighting, entry/exit, alarm supervision l  Temperature monitoring l  Visualization and data management l  Multiple language support

HMSX hotel management software provides tools for interfacing KNX devices with hardware and software of other hotel management systems. Applications include hotel management and administration, common functions in hotel access control (check in, check out, room management, transits and profiles), supervision of facilities, management of lighting, temperature control, alarms, timing, management of groups of devices and control of technological devices. The Client-Server based software can run remotely via the Internet or via Ethernet, and each version can be updated on-line using the update function. User recognition takes place through a hardware key, which can be switched from a high level down to simple unlock code. Interface graphics are fully customizable, allowing display of personalized logos and themes on the main screen. Communication between the software and KNX bus can be established and managed via a simple configuration page. The software modules allow identification and programming of key cards and updating of data on the cards via the transponder encoder. A ‘check in/check out’ page allows the user to add, modify, or delete customer transponder cards. Advanced hotel management features enable the operator to create visual layouts of different zones in the hotel and to modify supervisory functions for each zone. The software interface provides all necessary information on the status of the guest room, such as time of check in/check out, occupied/vacant room. An ‘access log’ page provides data about access events on the KNX bus in the form of a table with information on date, time, customer, zone, and access code along with descriptions.
