VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION Persons who have a substantial employment handicap as a result of a permanent disability may receive, at no cost to themselves, vocational counseling and financial assistance toward the cost of their college training when the vocational objective of the disabled person is approved by a vocational rehabilitation counselor. These services are available through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Arkansas Department of Career Education, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72201. Information relative to the program may be obtained from the Student Services/Financial Aid Office at Newport, Jonesboro, or Marked Tree campuses.
WELLNESS CENTER ASU-Newportâ€™s Wellness Center offers students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to maintain a healthy lifestyle by utilizing facilities and equipment that can lead to improved physical fitness and wellness. Facilities include a gymnasium (used for basketball, volleyball, and other indoor activities), a weight workout room, a softball field, and soccer/football fields. A locker room and showers are also available and lockers may be assigned each semester to those requesting a locker from the Wellness Center Director. Anyone using the facility should sign in prior to participating in an activity on the ASUN, Newport campus. Various types of equipment are available for checkout by students, faculty, and staff of ASU-Newport.
