5/20 Entry requirements for short-term stays in Switzerland You plan to travel to Switzerland and would like to know what formalities apply for foreign nationals who wish to stay for a brief period without seeking employment? In principle, everyone needs a valid travel document. Switzerland may allow EU/EFTA citizens with expired travel documents to cross the border. Travel documents of third-country nationals for a short stay not exceeding 90 days in any period of 180 days, however, must: 1) be valid for at least three months after the planned departure from Switzerland and 2) have been issued within the previous ten years. The date of issue of the travel document is what counts, regardless of any official extension. In some cases, you may also need to obtain a visa. To find out if you need to obtain a visa and if there are any requirements for your travel documents, see http://www.sem.admin.ch Switzerland is part of Schengen Area.

5. ARRIVALS

RACE VILLAGE ARENA SPORTIVA, 6950 TESSERETE, SWITZERLAND

8/20

4.1 Arrivals by Air The most suitable airport is Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP-LIMC) A shuttle bus can be booked at www.malpensa-express.com for about 35 euro (return ticket) with destination Lugano (Switzerland) Main Station, about 1h driving distance. From there, public transportation, hotel shuttle, taxi or rental car are available to your final destination according to your needs. Consider possible custom controls at the border between Italy and Switzerland that could delay the journey. Direct flights to and from Lugano-Agno Airport (LUG-LSZA) are also available. 4.2 Arrivals by Train The Main Station in LUGANO (Switzerland) is the closest one to Tesserete. The towns are connected by bus routes approximately every 30 minutes. Lugano downtown is reachable by funicular or 5 minute walk. Train tickets in Switzerland are available at www.sbb.ch. 4.3 Arrivals by Road If your car is equipped with a Navigation Tool/GPS insert as destination TESSERETE (Switzerland) town centre. Coming from North, you will need to pass the Gotthard Area, descending towards Bellinzona and Lugano. Take RIVERA (48) exit and via main roads to TAVERNE and then TESSERETE. Be aware of possible queuing at the Gotthard Tunnel access. Coming from South, after entering Switzerland from Italy in CHIASSO (Como), stay on the highway and exit at LUGANO NORD (49), and from there to VEZIA and TESSERETE. Possible waiting at the border check-point. It is required to have a vignette if you intend to use the Swiss motorways. Swiss rental cars already have a vignette. If you are coming from abroad check at the borders where to buy it. The fine for not having it is much more expensive than the vignette itself.... In Tesserete you will easily find indications towards the Village Area located at the Sports Arena, close to the Church. Find parking signs.

9. MARKING

15/20

Do not leave the path for any reason!

Scenic Trail has a permanent marking system available on the official yellow panels. At every intersection and in several other locations a «Scenic Trail» sticker is available, indicating the correct direction, especially when crossing villages. Additionally, temporary markings to increase safety are installed during the race period. It includes dedicated flags, orange spray dots and arrows (mainly on roads or stones), red and yellow marking/warning tape, remaining distance panels, and other possible signals. For the night, reflectors are displayed to help runners find the way.

Aid-stations are placed at regular intervals. In the table below you can find an indication of what is to be found at each point. Be aware that the list may vary and this is only a general overview. We do not offer power gels or power bars. We remind you that according our regulations, all our trails must be accomplished in semi-indipendently; expect up to 20 Km of complete indipendence between aid-stations. Water points are provided naturally by fountains, creeks and sources. They will not be marked. Their use it is entirely up to the athletes needs and decision. In very hot weather many sources and creeks are dry. Consider having a sufficient water reserve, in this case.
