began as an after-hours indulgence among the inner circle of the ASSOS Werksmannschaft, our in-house product development team. This was their “WHAT IF?” project. The world didn’t really need another bicycle frame, but the ASSOS R&C+R (Research Creation and Refinement) team does need to be continually challenged. So, like many other engineering developments, this one was driven by curiosity and passion. After all, ASSOS is the cycling apparel R&C+R company. The development team didn’t begin work in a vacuum. Their expertise and experience with all things cycling is wide-ranging. And the ASSOS knowledge well is deep. Remember, it was ASSOS that invented the first carbon-fiber frame in 1976. So, along with the company’s global network of specialists, the team was able to take their vision to the next level and create our ultimate racing bike.
OFFICIAL DEVELOPMENT began in February 2009 with the G729, which quickly evolved into the G730. Neither of these prototypes was ever commercially available. But they were good machines and they gave birth to the G731, the predecessor of the new G733. There was no reinventing of the wheel, no revolution. The G731 team took proven technologies and combined them with a geometry that suited their taste, then engineered the details so the result had all the features and behaviors they believed the ASSOS racing bike should have: laser-sharp response, maximized comfort, light enough to fly but tough enough to avoid catastrophe. Plus special focus on one specific target. DOWNHILL, HIGH-SPEED STABILITY AND PRECISION. GOOMAH LIKES TO BE RIDDEN HARD AND FAST — VERY FAST! Some might ask, but ASSOS is an apparel company, isn’t it? How did they do it? Those are good questions. It really is a practical impossibility for an apparel company to internally develop, from scratch, a complete high-performance racing device like the G733. The answer is access. The team was able to access competent know-how through the unique, global network of ASSOS suppliers and partners. Their first order was to find the right carbon fiber, really just another synthetic material like the components of ASSOS textiles. And finding the right fiber is an ASSOS Textile Lab specialty. So, the physical creation of the prototype was assigned to a group of European carbon-fiber specialists who usually develop avant-garde carbon-fiber components for America’s Cup racing, Moto GP, and GT endurance car racing.
WHAT IS IT? The brand new GOOMAH G733 is the successor of the G731. This is the one and only official ASSOS racing bike, the ultimate ASSOS rider Assosoire. The G733 is a custom-made joint development venture between ASSOS Centro Studio, équipe Exploit and the Swiss carbon frame engineering group, GOOMAH. If you appreciate the ultimate in performance or seek exclusivity (only 1113 handmade pieces) then this frame is for you. And it is the only way to enjoy a fully integrated ASSOS experience.
THE STORY OF WHY The DNA of ASSOS is the racing bike. Without the racing bike we would not be doing what we do. It is our raison d’être. The racing bike and the will to win inspired ASSOS to create the very first carbon fibre cycling frame and, as a consequence of that creation, the very first Lycra® (only by DuPont) cycling shorts. The racing bike is why it all happened. Unlike any other manufacturer, ASSOS maintains its own professional roadLab test team, équipe Exploit Werksmannschaft. It is our road unit, the extension of the ASSOS textile laboratory. It is not an external marketing-paid-to-ride racing team, but a one-of-a-kind company-owned and -operated apparel roadLab team. This team is at the center of our devotion to cycling. When a company creates and develops cycling apparel at the ASSOS level, it is not enough to have apparel know-how. You need group intelligence in which each member has a profound understanding of the sport and the disciplines that revolve around it. The ASSOS Werksmannschaft organization is just such a group, comprised of devoted racers with technical backgrounds, ex pros, promising riders, doctors, “old foxes”, mechanics, trainers, apparel engineers and textile designers. Leading the roadLab is Daniele Nardello, an ASSOS rider since his junior days, a three-time top-10 Tour de France finisher and two-time Italian National Pro Champion.
THE DETAIL For your total comfort in the saddle, apparel is more important than the bike. In this sense, the bike is a detail, but a fundamentally important one. Every recent ASSOS product has been developed on a Goomah. There is no better set up for an ASSOS rider than riding an authentic Goomah, unless of course you have geometry issues or are hopelessly in love with your current bike. There are very, very good bicycles on the market, no doubt. We have ridden them all. But there is only one “ONE AND ONLY”.
THE DESIGN APPROACH The development philosophy behind the Goomah G7 series of racing bikes is based on continuous refinements, similar to the development of, say, the Porsche 911. It does not start each year from scratch with a completely new approach. Instead, we try to make something really good even better, gradually incorporating new technology in an attempt to perfect this unique frame – just like every other ASSOS product that reaches the market. The NEW G733 is the successor to the fabulous G731, first introduced in 2011.

MATRIX SURFACE MAPPING The G733 uses three different strengths of high modulus carbon fibre. This means the frame is not made with the same carbon modulus all over. Instead, depending on the area, it features adjustments to strength and stiffness to minimize unnecessary weight and micro shocks, all in pursuit of total comfort and security. We believe that producing a super-rigid frame without providing a comfortable ride is useless, unless your discipline is the 1-km sprint.
THE CONCEPT When Goomah took on the challenging development brief of the ASSOS Werksmannschaft, the core of the brief, its essence, was, “Give us the most precise, most secure, most high-speedstable road bike possible.” Strange? Usually everyone talks only about weight or stiffness or aerodynamics, but we feel this is all useless if you need to back off at 70 km/h because the bike can't take it anymore. Many can’t. Stiffer equals faster no longer holds true. And “the lightest” may not hold up in the real world. Meeting our demands required the best of everything. And when that point was reached, we asked the G733 engineers to go one step further. The result is shock and awe – Goomah attacks. Ride it to believe it. It works. Really! Ranking’s own label performance division is one of the biggest cycling helmet producers, whose main activity is helmet production for other premium brands, including many names we all know well. The ASSOS Werksmannschaft has chosen the Ranking collaboration because of its quality, immense technological expertise and know-how. The R91 Feather helmet impressed us with its extreme light weight (170 g) small volume, ergonomically correct shape, excellent ventilation and overall clean, great looks.The technicians at Ranking showed great interest and reacted professionally and quickly in accommodating the ASSOS Werksmannschaft’s special requests, such as the little ASSOS detail of the adjustable clickFit closure buckle. TECHNOLOGY • Primary product goal: Innovation! Be one of the world’s lightest road helmets.
HOW CAN JINGO BE SO LIGHT? Because there is no EPS insert in the helmet. Normally other manufacturers insert rigid structure inside the EPS (EPS is the polystirol material). Ranking is able to create a strong helmet without using any rigid insert in the main material. Nevertheless, Ranking R&D still made it possible to pass the CE EN 1078 standard. Very light weight, but safety is a priority.
HOW DID ASSOS ACHIEVE THIS? The idea came from a car frame’s buffer design principles of product structure. One part of the frame receives an impact, but the whole frame absorbs the energy and disperses the stress. Ranking is an expert on EPS structure, with about 30 years’ experience in the EPS field. They create helmets using design concepts originally created for automotive frames.
COMFORT • Riders won’t feel the JINGO even after long distance racing. • Most customers believe the more vents the helmet has, the cooler it is. This is not correct. More important is how the helmet creates ventilation. JINGO features an internal ventilation groove design. There are no inserts in the EPS. • Ranking R&D creates all its helmets based on the concept shown below. Oversize air inlets in the front and the small air outlets in the back force the heat to escape from the top.
QUALITY • The Ranking factory is ISO 9001 certified. • Ranking has its own test laboratory, enabling it to create higher quality helmets. • The Ranking factory passed the strictest audits of the Australian, Japanese and Korean governments. The ASSOS product passes the CE EN 1078 standard.

WHAT IS IT? A unique design by the ASSOS Werksmannschaft, made exclusively by the team’s tech partner, Lake. Lake Shoes was originally an American firm, a pioneer in creating cycling shoes with carbon soles. The company is now headquartered in the Netherlands and led by a young and enthusiastic, but still highly experienced, management and development team.
CONCEPT Cycling shoe research and testing has been a long-time endeavor for the ASSOS Werksmannschaft. The team loves cycling shoes and is fascinated by the many parameters that affect their purpose: to transmit power. Cycling shoes really are a power interface device, subject to many small variations that make the difference between an ordinary shoe and an excellent one. The intriguing feature of this custom-made shoe is its carbon sole, which wraps around part of the heel and can be molded to an individual’s foot for a truly custom fit.
ENGINEERING The G1 is precisely handcrafted, melding extreme high tech with traditional artisanal shoe manufacturing. This is not a mass-produced product. G1 uses real kangaroo leather for its supreme softness and its excellent ability to adapt to each wearer’s foot. The G1’s real wow! factor is the feeling of power transmission its construction generates. It's almost bionic: you feel like your legs are one with the crank unit and the power is being transmitted directly to the road with no losses or distortion. Italian shoes, in general, have a narrower footbed in the front; the G1’s footbed is slightly wider, which allows your toes more room to move and breathe. The ASSOS cyclingSlipperG1 is based on Lake's top-of-the-line model but features 32 little details specified by the ASSOS Werksmannschaft, making this cycling shoe unique to ASSOS.

CUSTOM FITTING Itâ€™s simple. Put the shoes in the oven at 80 Â°C degrees for 10 minutes. Wear two socks, put the shoe on, sit down with your knees bent at 90 degrees, then use your hands to push or pull the carbon fiber into form where needed. Let it cool down without moving. Done! This process can be repeated as needed, should you ever feel pressure points (after the first 1000 km).
