Have lunch with God……..Maybe Twinkies and Root Beer A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie. The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at the boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer. Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever. When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy? He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? God's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!" Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked," Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added, " You know, he's much younger than I expected."
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

Visiting at CIW ….. One of our gracious mentors wanted to share a positive comment about one of the officers at CIW…….. “I arrived at around 9:00 that morning... the waiting room was not as full as usual, but I still waited about 30-40 minutes before being called up to the desk. The officers were being VERY thorough. But it wasn't so bad, however, because I actually had a pleasant time watching Officer H. Romo II interacting with various individuals at the desk. He was clear with his instructions to people, patient, humorous and uplifting--even reinforcing the blessings people experienced when having gotten away with something prior that he wouldn't allow that day. (I can hardly believe what some people try to get away with!) I giggled to myself a good portion of my wait time, so it really went by fast. When at last my name was called by Officer Romo (or ‘Romeo’, as he signed on my form), he said pointing to my ASK tag, "Oh, you're with them. Why didn't you say something, so we could get you through quicker." I explained that recently we were specifically asked not to ask, to which he replied (with humor), ‘Then, by all means, DON'T ask.’ His smile told me he was sensitive to my situation, even if I wasn't complaining. Anyway, his presence at the desk that day made my visit a virtual blessing. The last couple of times I had visited since the change in Warden were not pleasant at all. I thank God for officers like Romo, who dig down to find joy in the midst of a VERY difficult job. And I know he was put there just then to brighten my day and encourage me in this ministry! Thanks for hearing my story.” ~Therese :-D When you have moments like this, please share it like Therese did!

Your service is desperately needed in the church By Rick Warren One reason why you need to be connected to a church family is to fulfill your calling to serve other believers in practical ways. The Bible says, “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NLT) Your service is desperately needed in the body of Christ—just ask any local church. Each of us has a role to play, and every role is important. There is no small service to God; it all matters. Likewise, there are no insignificant ministries in the church. Some are visible and some are behind the scenes, but all are valuable. Small or hidden ministries often make the biggest difference. In my home, the most important light is not the large chandelier in our dining room but the little night light that keeps me from stubbing my toe when I get up at night. There is no correlation between size and significance. Every ministry matters because we are all dependent on each other to function. What happens when one part of your body fails to function? You get sick. The rest of your body suffers. Imagine if your liver decided to start living for itself. “I’m tired! I don’t want to serve the body anymore! I want a year off just to be fed. I’ve got to do what’s best for me! Let some other part take over.” What would happen? Your body would die. Today thousands of local churches are dying because of Christians who are unwilling to serve. They sit on the sidelines as spectators, and the body suffers. God calls you to a service far beyond anything you could ever imagine. He created YOU for a life of good deeds, which He has already prepared for you to do (based on Ephesians 2:10 TEV).
