Based on the feedback given by guests, Legian Bali went on a four-month refurbishment to include new amenities, reopening last month as they put on the finishing touches.

Half of the resort’s guest rooms were also renovated to ensure a more welcoming stay for guests. Plumbing and recalibrating the air circulation systems in rooms were part of the refurbishment project as well.

Bali aims for 15 million visitors by 2015 With Bali becoming the it-place-to-be for getaways, the Island anticipates a massive amount of visitors from next year onwards. Over the last few years, Bali has experienced a surge in visitors and has become one of the most sought-after destination for romantic getaways, mid-year vacations and honeymoons. In the first five months of 2012, Bali Tourism Agency has since recorded an impressive amount of 1,131,462 foreign visitors, up 9.7 percent from 2011. In 2011 alone, the Island had welcomed 2.75 million foreign tourists and 5.67 million domestic tourists. Aiming for double the amount of foreign and domestic tourists beginning next year, Governor Made Mangku Pastika is making an optimistic target of five million foreign tourists by 2015, totalling the target visitor numbers to 15 million.

“With the stable and conducive political security and social situation, as well as the momentum from the 2013 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, I’m sure that in 2015 we will be able to welcome five million foreign visitors and ten million domestic visitors,” the Governor said. Reasons for the Governor’s speculations include upcoming internationally renowned events, such as the Miss World Beauty pageant, as well as the APEC meeting. All these events are capable of showcasing the country’s good image internationally. Amongst the statistics collected, the tourism agency has also revealed that Australians are the most constant tourists, followed by the Chinese.

Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa The latest retreat’s location in the Middle East, Abu Dhabi, is the first for Anantara and is an accessible urban destination decked with a spectacular waterfront setting. Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa boasts 222 rooms on site and is Anantara’s third in the UAE. Just on the edge of a 1.2 km stretch of protected mangrove reserve, the resort in Abu Dhabi city is an integrated marina, retail and residential area. The hotel is a mere 20 minutes away from the Abu Dhabi International Airport, and seven from the Al Bateen Executive Airport. The location of the hotel is prime for business travellers as it is ten minutes away from the key business centres in the city. The hotel also offers the traditional Arabic hospitality and its décor reflects the Arabic architectural heritage. The elegant hotel also offers The Royal Mangroves Residence, one of the largest suites in the UAE where it is an exclusive residence with ten bedrooms, a private rooftop pool with swim-up bar, its own dedicated entrance and access to a limousine service, private chef, butler as well as a massage and beauty therapist.

Prana Resort Nandana For the Koh Samui affiliate of Prana Resorts & Spa, ‘Nandana’, is located across the road from the existing Prana Beach Villas (formerly Prana Resorts & Spa) and features a magnificent low-rise resort comprising of 60 rooms that includes a dedicated spa facility with five treament rooms and an al fresco massage sala (open pavilion). The resort uses authentic Thai décor for the interior design of the hotel, with rooms that feature Thai handicrafts and motifs. Meaning ‘paradise’ in Sanskrit, Nandana’s vision of tranquility and rustic charm will be the concept for the upcoming resort in late 2012. The resort uses as many domestic materials as possible for the property, for example, it features an innovative funnelled roof that is shaped like a Thai fishing basket, and is woven using a traditional Thai technique.

Solis Guangzhou Planned to open in the fourth quarter of 2013, this five-star hotel will reside on the edge of the legendary Pearl River. The development of Solís Guangzhou is Solís Hotels & Resorts’ third project this year. The hotel is scheduled to be the only five-star hotel on Pearl River, and also boats its own jetty and docks. TransAsia Airways surpasses Singapore Airlines in Worldwide Airline Ranking Taiwanese airline, TransAsia Airways recently gains accreditation by ranking sixth in the Top Performing Airlines during Aviation Week’s worldwide Top Performing Airlines (TPA) stud. TransAsia Airways, a Taiwanese airline, is one of the fastest growing company internationally. In the recent Aviation Week’s worldwide TPA ranking, the airline bagged sixth position. Commenting on the results, Mr Vincent M Lin, Chairman of TransAsia Airways, said: “Just this month, we have rolled out a series of new initiatives to further uplift our service standard, including offering iPads to Business Class passengers, launching new in-flight menus and redesigning crew uniform. We hope every passenger on board will have a refreshed experience with TransAsia!” Also, in Asia Pacific’s Top 10 Airlines, TransAsia ranked third in the region with a total score of 72, knocking Singapore Airlines down a notch. TransAsia Airways was also one of the companies computed by International Business Times (IBTimes) as one of the world’s 1000 fastest growing companies. Here are the overall study results:
