In "movie speak", a prop gun is referred to as a stand-in or stunt gun. "A good stunt gun and a first-rate double.", and "Holding the old trick of using an actor as his own stunt double for scenes in which he fires his six-gun. This gets both the gun and the actor home free. Nobody gets hurt."
