Set new goals

slaog wen ,ebiv wen ,nosaes weN

Setting new goals ignites a fire in you to fight for something. Plus new goals help trigger new behaviors, positive ones. When you have goals, you have focus, which drives momentum you can sustain over time. If you work hard enough, you will earn your reward.

Create priority lists Lists promote productivity. I personally like to separate my must dos, other tasks and goals. That way I know what has to get done daily, what I want to get done and what goals I’m working towards. Lists help you stay organized and task/goal oriented.

Seek festive adventures I love having something to look forward to. Whether it’s counting down until a big trip, or planning mini adventures like going apple picking, riding a tractor through a pumpkin patch and/or chasing the fall leaves. Fun festive things give you something to look forward to while enjoying the seasons at the same time.

Cook with the seasons As soon as Fall hits, your girl turns basic. Pumpkin anything please. In general though, I love cooking with the seasons with the freshest produce. In the fall I love warm soups and crockpot recipes. Anything that offers a little bit of warmth and comfort. I also enjoy creating healthier versions of my favorite recipes. Pinterest is my go to resource for inspo or sharing recipes with like-minded people.

Give your space a refresh Nothing feels better than a clean space. I truly believe when your environment is organized, your stress levels are reduced. We have a cleaning lady come 1x per month for a deep clean, then do our best to keep our home as tidy as possible in between, vacuuming and dusting often and reducing clutter. Plus, I love adding seasonal decorations, like pillows, scented candles, throw blankets. Decorating/cleaning with the seasons is a great way to keep things fresh and exciting.

Season your closet As summer comes to an end, I always like to get my clothes storage bins from the attic to switch out my summer/spring stuff for all the cozy vibes, sweaters, jackets and high boots for fall/winter. Of course I keep some transitional pieces out, but for the most part, updating my closet for the seasons makes me so excited to experiment with my fashion and wear some of my favorite trends. During this time I will put aside any pieces of clothing, jewelry, bags I don’t wear and start a pile to donate. It feels good to purge to prevent overcrowding and to give back to the less fortunate.

Eat balanced I believe in the 80/20 eating lifestyle. 80% of the time you should be eating whole and natural food sources and 20% of the time fun foods that satisfy those cravings. 80% of your meals should be balanced to provide your body plenty of beneficial nutrients and energy. I always encourage people to center their meals around a lean protein source, healthy carb, healthy fat and micronutrients (vitamins/minerals) from fruits and/or veggies. The other 20% is reserved for your favorite foods. Be picky about those indulgences.

EXAMPLE BREAKFAST 2 slices whole grain toast 1 whole egg/2 egg whites scramble 1/4 avocado + a side of blueberries

EXAMPLE LUNCH 4-6 ounces salmon 1/2 cup brown rice 1 cup broccoli drizzled sesame oil on top

EXAMPLE SNACKS 1/4 cup hummus with 3 ounces carrots

EXAMPLE DINNER 4-6 ounces lean steak 4 ounces sweet potatoes with melted coconut oil on top 1 cup green beans

2 pieces of dark chocolate 1st Phorm protein shake with almond milk

Move that body Movement is medicine. If you have an able body, move it. Working out is so good for a healthy heart and endorphins, those feel good feels. Commit to 30 minutes of movement per day, whether that’s walking, running, weightlifting, etc. Movement is so good for mental health, mental clarity and to reduce stress.

Get those zzz’s Optimal sleep has a huge effect on how you feel both emotionally and physically. When you sleep enough, you can get through your day with more energy, have a sharper brain and you’re in a better mood. I love black out curtains and sound machines.

Chug that water Drink water and lots of it! There are so many benefits. Water is an essential ingredient for life. Water is important for the movement of nutrients and waste, cellular reactions, temperature regulation, and acid–base balance, lubricates and cushion joints, moistens the eyes, and cleanses the food we eat. Plus, water increases total metabolism by 30%, flushes out toxins, improves skin, banishes dark circles, boosts metabolism, decreases headaches, prevents overeating, the list goes on and on! I recommend anywhere from 60-120 ounces.

Take your vitamins The two top supplements I recommend for anyone to add to their regimen are a multivitamin and fish oil. Vitamins help fill the gaps as to what your diet is missing. This has been extra crucial for me during pregnancy. Most multivitamins offer the 6 optimal nutrients essential for baby development, but look out for these in your prenatal vitamins just in case: Folic acid Iron Calcium Vitamin D DHA Iodine Omega-3 fish oils are more important because the baby depends on this nutrient right at conception to build the baby's nervous system, for brain/eye development and much much more. Full-Mega has a very high DHA/EPA (2 most beneficial omega-3s) which are essential for the baby to grow and thrive. I love 1st Phorm vitamins and use the Joy Bundle Stack for my prenatals.

Make sure to rest to recharge I’m the kind of person that likes to be on to go all of the time, forgetting to take breaks sometimes. You will reach burnout that way. The body needs rest to recharge and reset. Give yourself downtime everyday if possible, even if it’s 5-10 minutes to refuel and refocus. My downtime includes reading, practicing daily gratitude, stretching and/or winding down at the end of the night watching TV or a movie with my husband and doggies.

Creating a morning routine This has been a game changer for me. I try to keep it simple to avoid adding pressure to myself with more on my plate. However, I realized carving out time to express daily gratitude has helped me become a happier person overall and keeps me in the present moment. When you recognize what you’re thankful for on a dayto-day basis, you learn to appreciate the small and big things life has to offer, rather than focusing on what you don’t have. I encourage you to write down 3 things you are grateful for every single day. I love having a prompt journal. My favorite is The 5 Minute Journal.

Listening to music Music in my opinion is a type of therapy. Music is there for you to celebrate the special moments in your life, to mourn the hard ones, to help you through life experiences, to just put you in a good mood. For me, so many emotions come up when I’m listening to music. I love putting on music when I’m expressing daily gratitude. Usually in the mornings, it’s something soft and romantic like Norah Jones. I also love listening to autumn jazz on iTunes.

Stretching and deep breathing Most of my life I neglected stretching, even in my high performance athletic days when I would train for 1-2 hours a day. In this stage of my life, I don’t neglect it. Especially with pregnancy, my body often times feels stiff and achy. Stretching for 5 minutes in the morning helps me start my day off on a good start. I try to hold each pose for 20-30 seconds, focusing on deep breathing which helps promote relaxation. Check out these 5 poses I’ve been doing daily since our IVF transfer of Baby Legg.

Daily walks Even if it’s just around the block. I enjoy moving my body, putting in my headphones and just zoning out to music or an educational podcast. You basically tackle two things at once, exercising the body and the mind. A quick walk can be just what you need for a mental clarity boost. My top podcasts to listen to are: RISE Podcast with Rachel Hollis, The Gary Vee Audio Experience and Real AF with Andy Frisella.

Scheduling down time After a busy work day, one of my favorite things to do is make dinner with my hubby and pick up where we left on a show we’re watching or turn on a good movie. It’s the best way I can turn off work mode and to wind down before bed. Plus it’s our time with each other. I’m sure that’s going to change once Baby Legg is here, but for now it works for us and it’s something I look forward to everyday. Some of our favorite binge worthy shows throughout our relationship have been: Prison Break, Friday Night Lights, Stranger Things, Quantico, Iron Fist, Jennifer Jones, Luke Cage, The Black List, How to get away with Murder, Ozark, You, New Girl. The list goes on and on. Can you tell we like our TV?

Quick & Easy Skincare Want to shop my favs? Head to Beautycounter.com/ashleylegg Safe and effective skincare is so important to me and should be to you too. This became a major priority during my husband and I’s infertility journey. A big goal was to remove toxins from my environment which started with my everyday products. That’s when I found Beautycounter, a CLEAN beauty & skin care company, with the goal to get safer products in the hands of everyone. But not only does Beautycounter focus on safety, it focuses on performance, which is what we look for when shopping. Am I right? As a passionate health expert who educates people about the importance of nutrition & fitness, I feel it is my responsibility to share this mission and to inform people about the lack of regulation in the beauty industry. I would be doing a disservice to you if I didn't tell you some of the scary statistics about our everyday products. I can't unlearn this stuff... It takes 26 seconds for your products to be absorbed into your bloodstream Europe bans 1400 toxic ingredients, Canada 600 and US...so far about 30. It's a start, but we have a LONG WAY to go. Beautycounter's mission is to give tools to our consumers so they can make informed decisions when shopping. We avoid 1800 toxins from our products. A common "dirty" ingredient in everyday products is "fragrance" which is an engineered scent or flavoring agent filled with anywhere from 3,000-plus stock chemical ingredients, including hormone disruptors and allergens. Plus other harmful ingredients have been linked to cancer and again, this one hit me hard, INFERTILITY. I know it’s a major challenge to get rid of all toxins in your environment, but small swaps here and there can make all the difference in your overall health. That’s why I’m excited to share with you some of my favorite skincare products. Shop through my site: Beautycounter.com/ashleylegg
