I'm so excited to spend Thanksgiving with my Mom, Sister, Husband & Ranger this year. It's going to be so special! Check out this throwback!

HOLIDAY TRADITIONS OFTEN REVOLVE AROUND THE DINNER TABLE. IT’S NICE TO LOOK FORWARD TO ENJOYING YOUR FAVORITE FOODS WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY, EVERYONE IN THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT, THE CONVERSATION MERRY AND BRIGHT. I ALSO FIND IT INTERESTING THAT IN MARRIAGE, YOU MERGE YOUR CHILDHOOD TRADITIONS WITH YOUR MARRIED FAMILY TRADITIONS, THEN CREATE YOUR TRADITIONS TOO. IT’S MERGING THE OLD AND NEW. I’M VERY MUCH LOOKING FORWARD TO MAKING NEW TRADITIONS WITH RANGER. THIS YEAR FEELS EXTRA SPECIAL WITH OUR MIRACLE BABY BOY WHO LIGHTS UP OUR LIVES EVERY SINGLE DAY.
WITH MY MOM OUR HOLIDAY FEASTS ARE SIMILAR FOR THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS. TURKEY, HAM, MASHED POTATOES (THEY HAVE TO BE CHUNKY), GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE, STUFFING, SWEET POTATOES WITH MARSHMALLOWS, CORN, AND PIE. WHAT I REMEMBER THE MOST IS HOW WE USE OUR LEFTOVERS, WHICH IS A CONTINUED TRADITION WITH MY HUSBAND. WITH POTATOES WE MAKE POTATO PANCAKES AND WITH TURKEY, THE BEST MINI SANDWICHES WITH TURKEY SALAD AND KINGS HAWAIIAN ROLLS. MY MOUTH IS ALREADY WATERING. I ALSO REMEMBER GOING TO THE MOVIES ON THANKSGIVING DAY AND DECORATING OUR CHRISTMAS TREE THANKSGIVING NIGHT LISTENING TO HOLIDAY MUSIC LIKE KENNY G OR NSYNC’S HOLIDAY ALBUM AS A TEENAGER. THE BEST!

Cheers! FOR THOSE COCKTAIL LOVERS
Last Holiday season I was pregnant so you better believe I’ll be having some festive cocktails this year. My husband, GiGi and I have been on a serious Paloma kick. Our focus has been making this as low calorie as possible without sacrificing the taste and we have figured out the best ratio for ingredients.
For the Wine Lovers
Not only can you stock up for yourself, Scout & Cellar wine is a great gift for other special people in your life like friends and family, for hostess gifts, teachers, your hair stylist, nail tech, etc.
My mom AKA Angelina AKA Ranger’s Gigi, is a rep for Scout & Cellar, which sources Clean-Crafted™ wine from all over the world. So what does it mean to be considered Clean-Crafted™? Each wine goes through two rounds of independent lab testing to guarantee that it's free of yucky stuff like synthetic pesticides and chemical additives and has fewer than 100ppm of total sulfites. Plus, all wines are Organic, have zero grams of added sugar, and are wildly delicious.
Have more questions? Reach out to my mom or shop through her site ScoutandCellar.com/angelinamarie
Our Paloma Recipe Ingredients:
3 ounces reposado tequila 1 tbsp lime juice 3-4 ounces grapefruit juice 6-8 ounces citrus soda, we like Fresca 6-8 ice cubes Served in a fancy glass for fun Garnish with a rosemary sprig, lime wedge or grapefruit wedge
Directions:
Add ice to your glass Add tequila, grapefruit juice, Fresca Stir well then enjoy

For Non-Alcoholic Drinkers I have the most perfect solution for you. TOST Beverages was my go-to sparkling beverage when pregnant, and it’s a relationship that never ended. Not only does this sparkling drink make you feel like you're drinking champagne, the taste is so delicious, subtle, and sweet. TOST is made from white tea, white cranberry, and Ginger and is best served chilled. SHOP HERE!
Party Gifts Heading to a party? My mom always taught me never to show up empty-handed. Be prepared and make your host feel special and appreciated. First, know your host and what they like. If you don’t know your host well, play it safe with a versatile option. Check out my examples below. Wine lovers-If it’s a more casual party, I typically grab Duckhorn. If it’s a fancier dinner party, I bring Caymus. Beer lovers-A beer variety pack could be a hit. My husband is very knowledgeable when it comes to beer. He picks out exotic beers that tend to be great conversation starters for those interested. Dessert lovers-I have found success bringing a dessert tray with various options, bound to please most people. Or, I bring my favorite cheesecake, hoping others enjoy it as much as I do. I go for Junior’s cheesecake (Whole Foods has 6-inch ones), or you can order online for delivery. Flowers-Whether you’re a flower lover or not, a vibrant bouquet can brighten up any room. It’s a nice decorative gesture to say thank you. Candles-I always think about the seasons here. If I’m heading to a Fall party, I’ll bring something pumpkin or apple smelling. If it’s winter, pine cones or dessert scented. If it’s spring or summer, something flower-based. You have options here, and most people enjoy a lovely candle in their home and/or bathroom. If you have hosted a party, you know it can be overwhelming and stressful getting prepared, keeping guests happy, keeping the space clean and tidy during the party, cleaning up after and so on. Acknowledging your host is so important. Let them know you are thankful for their hospitality.
Hosting Guests? Here are my other top musts ready for guests prior to their arrival: Wifi password (Print out and frame for presentation) Extra blankets Floor length mirror
My mom also taught me to always make guests feel welcome,

STAY ON TRACK DURING THE HOLIDAYS
I get it. I love to indulge in all the holiday delicacies too. With the festive season comes parties, food, drinks, and temptation everywhere, but you have the power to create a sense of balance by making positive choices that support your goals. This guide offers holiday tips, tricks, and hacks to do just that. Let's rock those goals! The holidays are all about the expression of gratitude, spending time with loved ones and celebrating traditions. You can enjoy yourself while keeping those goals in mind.To set yourself up for success, it's all about having a plan of action. Prepare to succeed. Sometimes our plans don't work out perfectly and that's fine, you adjust and adapt. BUT having one in place will give you a sense of comfort and control going into the Holiday.
THE DAY OF A HOLIDAY EVENT… The Holidays are fun for me, and I always look forward to celebrating with a feast with loved ones, but there's a difference between abusing food for the Holiday and enjoying it mindfully and in moderation. Going into the Holiday season, live life as normal. Don't try to deprive yourself all week to stuff your face silly the day of. This can be a vicious cycle. Instead, eat balanced meals throughout the week consisting of lean protein/complex carbs/healthy fats/micronutrients (which come from fruits/veggies). Also, keep that water game on point. Hydration is key before/during/after meals to help flush out our systems and help keep us full. A lot of the time, when we think we're hungry, we're actually thirsty! Plus, water increases metabolism by 30%! SO step up that water game and aim to hit 60-100 ounces per day. Focus on good activity throughout the week as well. This will help keep you motivated all week, produce endorphins and just keep you in fitness mode as you head into "food mode." Lastly, STOP stressing. SERIOUSLY STOP. Stress produces the hormone cortisol, which is linked to weight gain. So be confident in your action plan and know you have a choice and are in control, NOT FOOD. A little bit of tough love goes a long way. You are stronger than you think! Making small sacrifices now will earn BIG results later.
The day of, stick to your regular programming. Never let yourself go hungry. Eat your breakfast, have a snack or protein shake, then enjoy your holiday meal. Don’t deprive yourself all day to go ham (no pun intended) at dinner. Indulge in your favorites and pass over the rest. Why waste calories on so/so foods?! Pick your favs and savor every bite. I typically load up my plate with a protein and then have about 1/3 cup of my top fav sides like green bean casserole, potatoes, pie, etc. Don't make yourself feel guilty. Holidays are meant to be celebrated with the people we care about. Enjoy your time and stop stressing about what you're eating. Everything in moderation! Get back on track. Enjoy your meal, then move on! If you're going for seconds, later on, opt for more turkey and vegetables and less carb/fatloaded sides. You should not have to undo your pants at the end of the day. Think of balance and moderation. Do something active. It's always fun to relax and digest after a scrumptious meal. However, it's also good to move that body too! I'm not saying you have to go to the gym, but a nice walk with loved ones can do the body good and help you feel not so full! Many families like to play touch football, tag, or just wrestle around with the kiddos, trying to keep up with their energy. Be kind to yourself. Your body hears everything that your mind says. You are stronger than you think.
MAKING SMALL SACRIFICES NOW WILL EARN BIG RESULTS LATER.
Don't hang out by the food table! This makes it way too easy to continue the hand-to-mouth motion without even thinking. Win this battle by making a small plate of mostly healthy snack options with 1-2 small pieces of your fav indulgences, then walk away! Everything in moderation. Pick and choose when you want a real cocktail or when you want a mocktail. For the real deal go for lighter calorie options like vodka/soda, wine, low carb beer, tequila/soda. For mocktails, have a seltzer on the rocks with some fresh fruit in it or squeezed lemon or lime! Having a drink in your hand helps keep you occupied when being social, rather than reaching for food. Chew gum for part of the event/party pre-main course! Seems simple but it helps prevent mindless snacking. At dinner or buffet-style gatherings, focus on filling your plate with proteins, fruits, and veggies first. That way you leave little room for those high fat/carb foods like heavy dips, loaded sweet potatoes with marshmallows and brown sugar, bread and butter, and decked out stuffing. Be selective, pick your favs, and have small samples of the higher calorie foods, to help satisfy those tastebuds without overdoing it.
Eat slowly and chew your food, rather than inhaling it. Allow your food to digest before going for round two. You may change your mind in the meantime and feel satisfied with the plate. Bring a healthy dish "spin" on your fav foods! There are so many healthy options that you would never know are “healthy”! I always search Pinterest for "healthier" recipes. You could bring a Greek yogurt fruit dip with fruit or spinach dip with whole-grain crackers and/or veggies! The day of and day after the holiday celebration, move that body! Activity improves mental clarity and mindset and produces endorphins which are those feelgood feels. You'll never regret a workout. Commit to one and get it done! On the day of, you could go on a walk with the family! Limit alcohol, eggnog, and other heavy drinks. Alcohol is empty calories. They add up. Plus, too much drinking can add to too much snacking. Seltzer, water & coffee are great low cal options in between 1-2 alcoholic drinks. Think BIG picture. How proud of yourself will you be if you can get through this Holiday feeling in control and closer to your goals? This is 100% possible. Remember, small sacrifices for BIG REWARDS. You got this! Enjoy your day. Focus on the gathering and spending time with loved ones rather than obsessing over the food. We are so much more than the number on the scale. Celebrate you and your able body!

Wrapping up 2021 and looking ahead to 2022… 2021. What a year. The best year of my life so far because I got to meet our rainbow baby, Ranger Ward Legg. After four years of infertility, multiple miscarriages, and failed fertility treatments, Ranger came into this world healthy and strong at 8 pounds, 5 ounces, 21 inches. This year I've worked on patience, what it means to nurture and love with a full and open heart. I'm motivated by my sweet boy and want to be a good mom, person, human because of him and for him. So that's my focus heading into 2022, to continue to be a good person, to tell the people I love how much I care about them, to be resilient and relentless in chasing goals despite challenges, to savor every moment as time is flying by so fast. Every year I re-look at my personal goals list, and year after, they continue to resonate, and I keep adding something new.
For myself, I want to continue working on the progress I have made in 2021. All improvements that have changed my outlook on life and may change yours too.
To practice a morning routine To focus on mental health practices To be more patient To communicate better To tell the people I love how amazing they are and how much I love them To be kinder to the person in the mirror To focus on strengths rather than insecurities To stop chronic dieting/over-exercising and to train for life To face adversity and to fight To take the pain and turn it into hope To not feel weak about being vulnerable To confront destructive behavior and prevent it To not seek approval and be my authentic self To live every day as if it were my last
It’s motivating for me to write about the things I've been working on rather than to force new ones, but if I had to choose a resolution, it would be to not sweat the small stuff and to put all my energy into what matters the most.
There you have it! 2022, I'm ready for whatever comes my way. I encourage you to reflect on 2021, be grateful in the present moment, and remain hopeful for the future!
