DISNEY RETAIL RENOVATION A retail location on the Walt Disney Imagineering Campus is undergoing a full renovation to update the store and tie it in with the updates occuring on the rest of the campus. The location has not been updated in about ten years, and the company wanted a full redesign of the space. The design derives its many textures and materials from nature, a theme found throughout the surrounding Green Space. The intention of the design is to bring the outside in in such a way that nature can “grow with the merchandise without inhibiting it. The finishes and materials all reflect those found in nature such as natural wood and stone, and the fixture displays are designed to resemble garden carts to carry the merchandise throughout the store. Overall, the design is an upated version of the space that brings the outside in and ties in with the rest of the Imagineering campus.

THE COLLINS RESIDENCE
THE COLLINS RESIDENTIAL PROJECT INCLUDES THE RENOVATION OF AN EXISTING RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY OWNED BY BRIAN AND MEGAN COLLINS. THE HOUSE IS LOCATED NEAR LAKE GRANBY, A SHORT DISTANCE FROM DENVER, COLORADO, AND IS ON A LARGE PROPERTY SURROUNDED BY THE MOUNTAINS. THE RENOVATED HOME RETAINS THE ORIGINAL BUNGALOW STYLE PER THE COLLINS’ REQUEST WITH UPDATES THAT IMPROVE CERTAIN ASPECTS OF THE HOME SUCH AS THEIR WISH FOR A MORE OPEN AND MULTI-FUNCTIONAL FLOOR PLAN TO ENTERTAIN ANY OUTSIDE GUESTS AND TO ACCOMMODATE FAMILY THAT MAY BE STAYING WITH THEM OCCASIONALLY. THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN THE HOME AS THE COUPLE AGED WAS ALSO AN IMPORTANT GOAL, SO CONSIDERATIONS SUCH AS THE USE OF STAIN RESISTANT MATERIALS AND EASILY CLEANABLE SURFACES WERE IMPLEMENTED ALONG WITH UPDATED APPLIANCES AND OTHER OLDER FEATURES IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE HOME.
SUSTAINABILITY CONSIDERATIONS INCLUDE THE USE OF RECYCLED MATERIALS SUCH AS
RECLAIMED WOOD DURING CONSTRUCTION AND ON CASEGOODS, INSTALLATION OF ENERGYSTAR-RATED APPLIANCES, AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL FEATURES. THE SPACE HAS ALSO BEEN RENOVATED TO ACCOMMODATE STANDARS SUCH AS ADA, AGING IN PLACE, AND UNIVERSAL DESIGN.
OVERALL, THE HOME REFLECTS THE LIFESTYLE AND PREFERENCES OF THE COUPLE WHILE ALSO MAINTAINING ACCESSIBILITY AND FUNCTION IN THE CRAFSTMAN STYLE HOME.
