The dance programs below are offered by Ashland Country Dancers at The DanceSpace. All classes will take place at The DanceSpace unless otherwise specified. English & Scottish Dance From lyrical to boisterous, silly to sublime, English country dance dates from the 1600s. Discover dances of Jane Austen’s time as well as newly composed dances. Experience the strength and elegance of Scottish strathspeys and the high energy and sense of flight of the jigs and reels. Enjoy moving to beautiful music as you learn this joyful living tradition. No partner or experience necessary. English & Scottish Dance Party with Live Music Nationally recognized musicians Jacqueline Schwab (piano) and Michelle Levy (fiddle and viola) will play for an evening of dance. No partner necessary. Some experience helpful—come to Monday night classes (February 10 to March 31) to learn the basic form and some of the dances we will do at this dance party.
