CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s final league game of the season against our visitors South Normanton FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of South Normanton FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. Todays game gives the players the opportunity to impress Steve and Lee ahead of next weeks League Cup Final against Dunkirk in order to cement their place in the squad. This Season has had some fantastic memories and experiences again and I am sure that you will all have your own individual memories and it is nice that the final game of the Season will be a chance for some silverware next Saturday and fingers crossed the players bring it home. The memory that will stand out for me this Season is the FA Cup visit and game against Ilkeston Town FC. The lead up on the Friday was a remarkable day for all involved in the Club and was a memorable experience for all concerned. The actual game day itself showed that, as a club, we can provide a fantastic experience for over 800 spectators and this was testament to the organisation and volunteers on the day and my thanks, as always goes to them. The Club is not just about the first team but all roads lead to it and like the 1st team we are also proud to celebrate the success of all of our teams who have represented the club this season and a huge thanks for the time and commitment our Development Coaches have given to their respective teams and we have a selection of teams that have also reached Cup Finals and these being the Under 11’s, 15’s, 16’s and Sunday Youth 18’s, along with possible league winners with the 15’s who could be crowned Champions today. The volunteers have, yet again, worked tirelessly throughout this Season on behalf of the whole Club. As we know the club cannot survive without these volunteers and it is often not recognised in the amount of time they all give to the Club and my express thanks goes to you all for the commitment you afford to the club. There are so many areas of the club where we are grateful for peoples own time and commitment and I will be recognising these in our annual awards day on Saturday 20th May. May I take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal and growing number of Supporters too as your attendance has played a huge part in creating a great atmosphere at both Home and Away matches and I hope that this Season we maintain the Leagues highest attended club for a second season running so thank you all for your continued support it really does mean a lot to the players and officials. The Club Management Team of Steve and Lee have settled in really well at the club and with the players and whilst the league finish isn’t what I targeted them to achieve it still remains a great platform to build on for next Season and I am sure it has taught Steve and Lee alot. The league position really was irrelevant at the stage they joined as it was more about bringing together the football management structure and galvanising the players and I am pleased that this has made significant progress since they joined us. The important this for me has always been about achieving a sustainable club and that we have players at the club who want to be here and who know their role in the structure of their respective teams. I now feel at the end of this Season, that we are very close to achieving this and with a couple of additions for next Season I am sure that Steve, Lee, Marc, Russ and Alex will be a step closer to having some great, young, home grown players at the club and who are supported by more experienced Senior players that want to play for the club and help move us forward. May I finally take this opportunity to thank all of our Sponsors who have supported the Club again this Season and the interest continues to grow each year. Without your involvement we would not be able to move forward as we have and in the manner of which we have so I thank you all for your continued support and hope to see you at the awards day on the 20th May. All that remains is to hope we all enjoy the final game of this very long Season and hope to see as many of you at Anstey Nomads next Saturday supporting the players as we embark on the chance of silverware to finish off a very encouraging Season.
