CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s match against our visitors Aylestone Park FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Aylestone Park FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. We have now progressed further than any other time in the FA VASE and credit to the players and management team for sticking at it through what must be described as 2 very poor games against Stone Old Alleynians but we are in the next round now against Hucknall Town on Saturday 22nd October. This month sees us play in 3 different cups, the FA VASE at HOME against Hucknall Town, The League Cup AWAY against Holbrook Sports and the Westerby Cup at HOME against St Andrews so a busy period for us all and hope you can come along and support the team. As I have said many times before, there are 3 key ingredients to maintaining a sustainable and joined up club. 1. Chimney Pots – our support continues to grow and grow and your support helps the players, the atmosphere and to cover our match day costs and as the population continues to grow in Ashby we are reaching more and more new spectators as well as retain the loyal ones. 2. Player catchment and club structure – unlike some clubs that think paying players is the way to succeed we have a completely different approach and we are fortunate that we can pull players from a distance close to the club and that don’t come with their hand out asking for cash and that genuinely want to play for the club and the management team – we also have a clear football pathway structure from the Under 7’s to the 1st team and one which will, over time, get players and coaches playing the “Ashby Way” and this will make for many good years to come as we will have a natural conveyor belt of youth coming through at one club. 3. Commercial support – again we do not rely on egotistical individuals to fund the club (or should I say players) but work hard to develop and grow relationships with our sponsors and we have a lot of national and local business within the town and our reputation for looking after our sponsors is growing – this on its own can make a club as without their sponsorship we would struggle to develop and grow as we have done. I would like to thank all of our supporters for your continued support of the team both home and away. It gives me great pleasure to see so many of you watching the team and I know that the players are very appreciative too as there’s nothing better than having great support encouraging you from the sidelines. All that remains is to wish our players well today and hope we all are in for a good game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Aylestone Park. Since our FA Cup exit at the beginning of September we have managed to win all four league games and progress through two rounds of the FA Vase. On the face of it we could be mistaken in thinking we are on track and performing to a high standard. Alas, nothing could be further from the truth as we have stumbled over these victories with performances that at times have been embarrassing. In all seven games Andy and I have had to baby sit individuals on the pitch, barking out instructions (basics!) from the dug-out. We have had to change the shape of the team early on in the game to accommodate how the opposition are set up because individually and collectively we cannot think on our feet and play the game as it is in front of us at that moment in time. We have had to make substitutions early to accommodate players who have either declared themselves fit but have broken down early in the game or more worryingly simply just don’t seem to be able to cope with the football challenge put in front of them by the opposition which with all due respect hasn’t exactly been high calibre. Today is the time each and everyone needs to grow a pair and start applying themselves in the correct manner. Anything short of total commitment and endeavour will see us get what has been coming for several weeks and set us back. Aylestone are unbeaten in the League since an opening day defeat at South Normanton and provided us with two of our toughest games last season. With nine games to play in October we have an opportunity to start putting in some credible performances and that has got to start today. Our mantra as a Management Team is unchanged and set in stone, to work hard to develop individual and team dynamics on the training pitch that improve performance on a Saturday afternoon. Nine times out of ten if the performance is right and improving, results should take care of themselves. All we demand of the players is that they listen and trust the methodology/tactics we apply and reciprocate the hard work, commitment and transparency we demonstrate week in week out. The message could not be clearer, It is time to reciprocate. Let’s “hope” we can build on the positive results in the last seven games and produce an entertaining performance with the desired outcome. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. STONE OLD ALLEYNIANS

AFTER EXTRA TIME, ASHBY IVANHOE WON 3-1 ON PENALTIES THE BUILDBASE FA VASE 2ND QUALIFYING ROUND REPLAY WEDNESDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER 2016 _______________________________________________________________________________________ ASHBY IVANHOE LINE-UP: Chris Hodge, James Fisher, Evan Cawley, Chris Nettel, Joe Stubbs, Sam Johnson, Luke Thorogood, James Purslow, Kerr Horn, Royce Turville, Ben Betteridge SUBSTITUTES USED: : Josh Riley, Nick Sewell, Chris Waldrum GOALS: : Josh Riley (60) ATTENDANCE: 108 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Chris Hodge was the hero for Ashby Ivanhoe has he saved three penalties in the shoot-out to help his team progress through to the first round proper of the Buildbase FA Vase for the first time in the club’s history. After four hours of football over two matches neither Ashby nor Stone Old Alleynians could be separated resulting in the shoot-out and Ashby prevailed to set up a home clash with Hucknall Town.

The replay started well for Stone Old Alleynians and just as in the original tie they opened the scoring with an early goal this time with ten minutes on the clock when the striker took the ball past two Ivanhoe defenders before seeing an initial shot saved with the loose ball being slotted home. Ashby did have an opportunity to level the scores just five minutes later when a long ball forward from Evan Cawley found Luke Thorogood behind the defence and with the Stone goalkeeper off his line the shot was just the wrong side of the post and a first half which lacked significant chances ended with the visitors in front. The match was following a similar pattern to Saturday’s match with Ashby pushing on in the second half in search of an equaliser and having the better chances and after Royce Turville headed narrowly wide from a Thorogood cross they levelled the scores on the hour mark when substitute Josh Riley received a pass and from the edge of the area he sent a low shot across goal and into the net off the inside of the far post.

LATEST MATCH ACTION Inside the final ten minutes Ashby had a chance to take the lead when the ball was headed on for Kerr Horn who got beyond the last defender but the shot was wide and at the end of the 90 minutes the teams remained locked together and an extra 30 minutes was required. The best chance of extra time fell to Ashby at the start of the second period when a ball forward found Horn and his shot produced a fine save from the Stone keeper which kept the scores level and forced the lottery of a penalty shoot-out. Stone were first to take a penalty with Hodge diving the right way to turn the ball around the post and then upstepped Cawley for Ashby’s first penalty with the keeper tipping the ball over the bar. Stone’s second penalty also brought out a save from Hodge with the kick going just to his right and then Ashby edged in front when Thorogood found the bottom corner sending the keeper the wrong way. Hodge continued his heroics with a third penalty save before Chris Waldrum put Ashby two up with his spot-kick finding the corner. Stone then had to score their fourth penalty and did so with a chipped penalty down the centre of the goal which resulted in Nick Sewell stepping up for the decisive penalty and he placed the ball into the corner to secure a 3-1 shoot-out success and a spot in the first round.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY AYLESTONE PARK Aylestone Park Senior Section was formed way back in 1980 and at that point it was a natural progression from youth team football where we were very successful at local level. Our early years saw us develop from Sunday morning adult football in the Charnwood League to our first taste of Saturday football courtesy of the Leicester & District League where we were very successful, gaining many league honours and various County FA Cup successes. Without doubt this was a very vibrant time for the club and on the back of our previous achievements we were eventually accepted into the Leicestershire Senior League, a major step up in not only playing standards but also level of facility. Floodlights, spectator stand and post and rail pitch were standard requirements back then in the late 80’s and without doubt Leicestershire football was at a very good level, with the likes of Shepshed Charterhouse, Quorn, Coalville Town, Barwell, Friar Lane Old Boys to name but a few, all making for some very attractive fixtures. Although ‘The Park’ thoroughly enjoyed their many years of Senior League membership, it became clear that the established clubs were looking to make progress and pursue pastures new. This ‘progression’ wasn’t lost on us and following our recent re-location to our new facilities in 2010 we finally enjoyed our best season to date in 2011-12, gaining promotion to the East Midlands Counties League which provides football at Step 6 on the National Football Pyramid System. On a broader scale, Aylestone Park FC provides football in the local community for not only adult football but also a wide range of age group sections - mini-soccer, junior, youth and ladies football plus an inclusive section for youngsters with learning difficulties. It is this vision of how we see the whole footballing picture and what is required in our community that has enabled us to be assisted by various grant aid in addition to our own dedicated fundraising efforts that have gave us an outstanding, first-class facility.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
