CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to the NFU Sports Ground for todays game against Eastwood Community FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Eastwood Community and hope we all enjoy a good game. Last week saw a great weekend of results for both the 1st Team and the Knights. The 1st team travelled to League leaders Newark Flowserve and came away with a 1-0 win with Kerr Horn scoring again and from a personal note, whilst I wasn’t at the game, Kerr deserved to score for all of his fantastic efforts during the semi final game against Heather on the previous Tuesday. This result, I believe, was a significant statement of how the team are progressing and carrying out the plans that Andy and his team have started to instil and let’s hope that they take that same progress into todays game. The Knights came away with a home win last Saturday against Lutterworth but had to wait until the last minutes to snatch a well deserved 2-1 victory in what was a dramatic end to the game, well done to the players and to Rob and Andy. Having spoke with Andy in the week, he feels that the players are responding well and there is a real team effort back with them and a lot of banter which has been demonstrated by high numbers at training. Knowing Andy as I do he will want to maintain and continue to improve this tempo around the team and move us forward. The mandate remains the same as when he joined us and I am sure that he is starting to get a flavour for the players we have in depth at the club and their response is really pleasing too. As you may be aware the ground has been up for sale for a few months now and I wanted to update you on the position as we know it right now. When we moved here from Hood Park, we entered into a 15 year lease, of which 9 ½ years of that remain. The landlord has gone into administration and as such the administrators have instructed agents to realise the sale of the assets of the landlords business including the sports field. However, I have been in contact over the last few months with both the agents and the administrators and those talks have been positive towards the football club potentially buying the ground and as such being our own landlord. Following on from the discussions the club has now made a formal offer to the respective parties and we await further instruction on this. What does this mean in real terms to the football club, people have asked me, and in reality we either buy the ground at an agreed figure and pay a commercial mortgage for the freehold or we simply remain as a tenant for anyone that may wish to purchase the ground as we are secure within our lease terms and have protective covenants to the same. Therefore, be assured, that we are working towards a successful purchase to ensure our future, here at Lower Packington Road and I will keep you posted on further developments as they happen. All that remains is to wish the team well today and let’s enjoy a great afternoon of football. Regards Stuart Bonser Club Chairman PS – We are holding a Cheltenham Festival day on FRIDAY 15th March at the clubhouse so please come along during the day and enjoy a day of horse racing live on the big screens in what should be a great day.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello all. We've had 3 games since my last report which has seen two defeats and a win. Our last home game against Barrow was a massive disappointment. There were many more changes to our squad and unfortunately we lacked the quality and endeavour which saw us slip to a 1-2 defeat. The following Tuesday we then travelled to Heather for the Leicestershire Senior Cup semi-final. Unfortunately again, we were beaten 3-1 in a very entertaining game. Our opponents are top of their league and have a lot of experience and quality, coupled with the fact that they'd been together as a group for quite some time. However we had the better chances, especially in the first half and perhaps on another day the result may have been different. More importantly my backroom staff and myself saw for the first time in our short time at the club, the belief in the system and style of play that we are introducing. The players had the desire and cohesion and deserved credit for their efforts. We trained on Thursday and prepared for last Saturday's game which saw us away to the top side in our league. Newark Flowserve. A more offensive shape and a further improvement in performance saw us run out 0-1 winners. It is important to remain focussed on the process of our development and as a result we have trained well this week. We look to continue our progression today against Eastwood Community, another side sitting high up in our league. We welcome them to the NFU and look forward to today's game. THE OPPOSITION STAPENHILL They were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining promotion in their debut season and winning the Division One championship in the following two seasons. They remained in that division, apart from a single season (1971/1972) in Division Two, winning the top flight, now renamed the Premier Division, twice more – 1986/1987 and 1988/1989. They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of the Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning from the league in January 2002. Later that year they joined the Leicestershire Senior League and were promoted as runners-up into the Premier Division. In the 2007/2008 season, they were members of the Midland Football Alliance, but after a fire ravaged their home stadium the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League and gained promotion to the EMCL in the 2012/2013 season. ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY

19 4 8 - 2 01 8

70 YE AR S

The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
