2013/2014 Ashbourne’s Activities Programme offers a rich, extensive and eclectic array of clubs, trips and events. Reflecting the interests and passions of Ashbourne’s staff and students, most of the clubs have sprung up organically, developing into regular features of college life. Students have found that debating club has helped them to improve their communication skills and to structure an argument in a more logical way. Equally, the introduction of the Critical Theory seminar has had an incredible effect on the way humanities are studied at the college, and has been an inspiration to many students. Drama club and the Ashbourne Singers have produced exceptional contributions to the Ashbourne annual revue and our new musical theatre workshops promise to provide the students with an exciting new insight into another performance genre. Also featured in the revue are Bollywood dancing and Tango clubs, which have allowed students to develop a new skill and are also fantastic for those wishing to have fun and let their hair down during the busy Ashbourne week. Ashbourne makes the most of its great location in the heart of London and provides regular trips to galleries, theatres and talks. It also runs a biology field trip to Portugal, a four-day art department trip to Paris, and a week-long annual trip to a European city in February. This year promises to be the most exciting year so far. With rambling society evolving into psycho-geography club, and astro-particle physics club on the verge of a breakthrough, students will find that their experience at Ashbourne will not be limited to the classroom!
