Janua ry 2011 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  We are  looking forward to a wonderful second  half of the school year. We have a lot  coming up so please continue checking  your child’s folders for important notices.

Themes of the Month Literacy The third grade students will continue exploring the genre of nonfiction during our Reading Workshop. For writing, the third grade is finishing up How-To’s and moving on to research writing for Black History Month.

Science We have begun learning about different types of energy.

Math We will learn about measurement and graphing. After that we will move on to multiplication! Keep studying your addition and subtraction facts!

What’s Happening in Our Classes??? Class 3-327 Class3-327is working hard on learning our reading strategies. Ask your child about strategy #3. Our “How-To” Writing is moving along beautifully. Walk with your child about the recipe they choseto write about.

Class 3-328 Students will be working on responsesto literature. We will be exploring different customs through myths, fairy tales and fables. They are working on rounding to the nearest tenth and hundredth and still reviewing 0-4 multiplication facts.

Class 3-329 We are working very hard on mastering our reading and writing strategies. We will begin working hard in the computer lab to research information on famous African Americans. Keep working with your child at home on their reading, writing, and math skills!

Class 3-330 Class3-330is in the processof a noun, verb, and adjective revisions from a boring paragraph to an exciting one. Students will be using their vocabulary word folders and creative writing abilities to have their writing come alive. Homework On Time Students for November!!! 

Classroom Reminders Remember our school is a uniform school and all students must wear white shirts/blousesand blue pants and skirts.

Parents -pleasemake sure your child is doing their homework every night. It is extremely important. Check their folders for notices and important information!
