Michael A. Friar

Mike has closed over a half-billion dollars in M&A transactions as the lead Investment Banker/Advisor along with participating in more than another $250 million worth of deal closings for a total exceeding $750 million. Not only has he been involved in over 50 transactions, but has also been the lead consultant in hundreds of additional advisory engagements, including more recently: Cold Stone Creamery (over 1,000 stores), Wireless ($400 million independent cell phone and related products distributor,), TransWestern Polymers (plastics products company sold to Presto), Mercury Security, Inc. (a technology based physical securities manufacturer,) , Premier Sports Marketing (an advertising company which worked with sports stadiums throughout the country) and PanDigital (a $200 million technology products company). Mike brings over 35 years of investment banking, public accounting and strategic business management experience to the Ascend team.

Mark Stailey

Mark has closed over $300 million in M&A transactions along with being one of the leads in many value-build consulting engagements. He has over 25 years of investment banking, accounting, executive operational, sales & marketing and project management experience. Prior to joining Ascend in 2005, Mark was a managing director at Pen-Cal, Inc. Previously, Mark was a project manager for Hewlett Packard's Global CRM team, where he led international release management and quality assurance teams for the worldwide implementation of Siebel and Oracle eBusiness Suite. He has also served as the COO of BISNet, Inc., a provider of online employee benefits administration services and President/COO of InsMark, Inc., a leading developer of insurance and financial software for planning professionals. Mark began his career as manufacturing manager for West Coast Scientific, a biomedical plastics manufacturer. He earned his MBA from Saint Mary's College and B.A. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Mark has both his series 63 and 79 licenses.
