Golden Memories Coordinated by Lilly Brogger As the Simmental breed began to gain momentum in the US, many states formed local associations. These groups held sales, meetings, and events, designed to promote the use of Simmental genetics. By December, 1971, 20 state associations had been established: Texas, Montana, Kentucky, Iowa, Missouri, Georgia, Kansas,
Colorado, Oklahoma, Mississippi, North Dakota, Arkansas, Wyoming, South Dakota, Tennessee, Nebraska, Washington, Ohio, Florida, and Minnesota. Many of these state groups still exist today. Below are a cross-section of representative photos, which appeared in the Simmental Shield magazine, documenting the formation of these groups.
