A2 ART TECH EXPO While technology has seeped its way into artistic sensibility, it has for the most part evaded just celebration on a large scale. The city of Ann Arbor will serve as an ideal host for showcasing global innovation and the interconnection of art and technology. Since 1837, Ann Arbor, Michigan has been home to its public state university. Like other American college towns, the university takes precedence over much of the city and its land. While objectively UofM is the biggest draw for outsiders, it is little known that Ann Arbor has been a significant player during the rise of the digital age. The small town has grown substantially in the last few decades for this very reason, and is a host to recognizable tech industry brands like Google, Barracuda, and Dataspace among others. Residents of Ann Arbor—a large percentage of whom are alumni of the university—are also known consumers of the arts. For a weekend each summer the sprawling Ann Arbor Art Fair transforms the downtown streets into a sea of white tents. Ann Arborites largely take great pride in their diversity, inclusivity, and cultural appreciation. The city is young and bright; occupied by students and professionals with backgrounds in a broad range of specializations, most prominently STEM and Fine Art. The A2 ART TECH EXPO will leave behind a new Ann Arbor and extend their values towards Michigan, the midwest, and all who attend. Proposed are hundreds of new installations surrounding the fair grounds and throughout the city, as well as numerous gallery and performance facilities. A state which once thrived on the back of innovation in automobile manufacturing and mechanization will once again find itself on the cutting edge.

EVENTS / EXHIBITS / EXPERIENCE The focus of the fair is the impact on the viewer. Littering the town with art people haven’t seen the likes of will provide for an engaging first experience. Attention being drawn this way is what will leave a lasting legacy for Ann Arbor. Nations will be provided apt space dependant on what is to be displayed. Museums, downtown streets, and even restaurants will be utilized for gallery and performance space. Attendees will also be able to drop-in on musical performances during the duration of the fair throughout various concert halls (indoor and outdoor). The West Park Amphitheater, Hill Auditorium, and Diag will all be equipped for live shows.

IDENTITY The A2 ART TECH EXPO tackles a broad subject in a serious tone. The premise is art and experimentation, meaning inevitably humor and silliness will creep it’s way in. The feeling one will leave the fair with is subjective, as it will be up to the nations and the individual passion of presenters showcasing their work. Thanks to the hundreds of planned permanent installations, attendees will at the base level walk away with a sense of hope and promise for the future of art in the age of automation.
