OUR ME IN!

Bundles of creativity Welcome! to our 3rd and final edition of Bundles of Creativity produced with funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. The Bundles continue to grow in popularity and we are really pleased that Stronger Families, Anti-Poverty Events Group, Bradford Stronger Communities, Get out More, Bradford Libraries, Science & Media Museum, Keighley Big Local and over 100 community groups are contributing their resources and energy to getting 10,000 copies of this Midwinter edition out all over the Bradford District. With this Bundle we are striving to reach as many people as possible who are without access to the internet and who are having a rubbish time of it, made a lot worse by Covid-19. Winter is biting hard this year. Lockdown is increasing loneliness and isolation, many of us are missing company and struggling with our mental health, we acknowledge this in our Midwinter Bundles of Creativity and have included not only a lovely affirmation card by Musarat Raza, but a card and envelope for you to gift to someone else. Do you have a friend or relative who might be lonely? Think about your neighbours − is there someone nearby who could do with a friendly card and message from you? Use your card in this Bundle as an act of kindness − that could be part of 10,000 people feeling a little bit better. Midwinter’s cold days and dark nights make it a good time to hunker down and try some of the activities inside this issue. Hopefully, we shall find the funding to continue Bundles of Creativity in 2021.

COMPETITION WINNERS! Pumpkin & Shark Counting Competition Well done to Freya T (aged 7) for spotting all 34 pumpkins and finding all 25 sharks that were lurking within the Halloween edition’s pages. ACTIVITY SHEET

NATURE ON YOUR DOORSTEP

#RubbishArtBD ACTIVITY SHEET How to Make a Midwinter Scene Get creative with leftover cardboard packaging!

Materials: • Cardboard (unprinted is best) • Pencil or pen to draw the template • Scissors (an adult with a craft knife if the card is super thick) • Pencil crayons, paint and/or felt tips

Let’s get making! (1) Take your scissors, and cut out the template on this worksheet. (2) Using either a pencil or pen, trace around the fox template onto the cardboard, do the legs twice! (3) Use the scissors, or an adult with a craft knife to cut out the shapes. (4) Before assembling, decorate your fox. (5) Slot the pieces together! (6) What else could you make to complete the scene? Perhaps your vixen has a mate? Or make smaller versions for her cubs? Take photos of your scene and turn them into an animation!

Colour in and cut out the mask then attach string or elastic to the two black dots
