If you’re looking for something fun to build, draw, play, race or even smell, there are plenty of options in Victoria’s museums, galleries, theatres, art studios and shops. But kids are the real experts so we asked some junior critics to recommend their favourite after school and holiday activities.

“Scienceworks is like a humongous funpark, but inside. I like to race Cathy Freeman.” – THEA, 7

“I went to the Museum. I watched a 3D movie called ‘how the world was made’. The best bit was the volcano. In the bug section I smelled poo, and it smelt like sugar, and one smelt like orange.” – AVA, 6

“I love the dinosaurs at the Museum because they are made out of bones!” – CHRISTOPHER, 4

“We went to NGV. In the kids room I drove a car. We did a drawing and made a mess.” – HANNAH, 5

“I like ACMI Screenworlds because it shows all the old and new stuff about film, television and video games.” – ARCHIE, 11

“At the Arts Centre I watched the puppet animals show and once we made ‘junk puppets’, which are made of rubbish.” – AMY, 8
