promotional publications (“Le Guide all’artigianato artistico lombardo”- Guides to Lombardy’s artistic craftsmanship), which will be sent to all the main tour operators working in cultural tourism; - A virtual showcase, with publication on the website www.lombardiaeccellenza-artigiana.it; - A kit of advertising tools tailored to the businesses of excellence, including a logo proving recognition by Artis; - The opportunity for promotion during fairs (such as Macef and BIT) to which Region Lombardy participates; - Entitlement to participate in a specific reserved-access competition to win vouchers totalling 10,000 Euro in value for using in a development project; - A press campaign in daily national papers and local and regional newspapers as well as trade and
tourist press, and a widespread billboard campaign throughout the entire region. “In agreement with the Regional authorities of Lombardy, we have decided to focus on advantages for the enterprises such as visibility; we want in fact to sustain our artisans with strategic communication activities typical of bigger business actors” explains Giorgio Lampugnani, general director of Cestec S.p.A., the company that co-ordinates and manages the commuinication activities for the “Lombardy’s Artisan Excellence” program. Among the advantages brought by the project is the remarkable initiative of the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, that has financed a stage for two particularly gifted students in two ateliers acknowledged as “excellent” as per the project’s indications. This
intense programme of activities will unfold throughout the course of the year after the business has been recognised by Artis. This year, the awards are due to be handed out on December 8th 2009 at 4.30 pm at Pavillion n. 2 of “L’Artigiano in Fiera” fair, scheduled to be held from 5 to 13 December 2009 at the Milan Fairgrounds at Rho-Pero.
THE PHASES FOR EXPANDING THE PROJECT
The figures for the last two editions are significant: no less than 230 artisan businesses took part in the initiative in the 2007-2008 twoyear period, of which 110 were dedicated to woodworking and 120 to precious metals. The project, which reached its third edition in 2009, is seeing the introduction of an important new addition: thanks
