11:45……………………….Wrap Up and Evaluations About the Speaker Dr. Kimberly Horton is one of the most accomplished nursing executives in California and the United States. Over her career she has had global oversight of nursing for three major California hospitals, including Dignity Health (formerly Catholic Healthcare West), Mercy and Mercy Southwest Hospitals in Bakersfield, Kindred Hospital in San Leandro and since March 2010, Alameda Health System (AHS). A sought after speaker and author, she has received wide recognition for research, leadership and innovation in nursing practice and management. In education, she has served as adjunct professor for the University of Phoenix BSN and MSN programs and for the California State University Dominguez Hills Nurse Practitioner Program. In 2007, in collaboration with the Friends of Mercy Foundation in Bakersfield, California, she was awarded funding from the California Endowment for curriculum development and training in Advanced Cultural Diversity Training for health care providers. Active in community issues, Dr. Horton is Founder of Journey to a Dream Incorporated, a non-profit foundation that provides educational funding, mentoring and career planning for teen parents seeking vocation-based education. Dr. Horton is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). In addition, she is a recording artist and song writer with two CDs in distribution: “Music from My Heart,” and “A Place for You.”
