272 MISSIONARY PRESS Reward Tickets. A single card 140 x 220mm, uncut with two blocks of Reward Tickets each block with 16 tickets, each ticket with a number and a short ‘moral’ [or scripture]. Appears to have been an early printing by one of the Mission Presses. No imprint. $300 - $500 273 MULTIPLICATION TABLE For Maori Pupils 2p handwritten manuscript in Maori 340 x 420mm, laid out in 2 pages in 2 double columns with approximately 36 entries per column. The paper watermarked W. King 1834, folded as letter sheet addressed to ‘Rev. W. Williams Waimate’ and inscribed in pencil in William Colenso’s hand, 1000 copies. Printers ink and waterstains, not effecting text. Very possibly the original draft for the large Multiplication Table printed by John Telford, Colenso’s successor at the Paihia Press in 1842-1843. On May 20 1843 Telford in his first letter to the C.M.S reported printing 1,000 copies of a large multiplication table ‘which was greatly called for by the natives’. Williams 75, BIM 115. ‘The actual title is not known and no copy has been located.’ Provenance: William Colenso thence by descent. G.C. Printed in two columns separated by vertical rule. The first edition of the complete New Testament, translated mainly by William Williams. Rebound using the original boards, text mostly clean with the odd worm hole. Rebound due to binding condition issues with notation on endpaper by Christopher Parr it reads ‘This book was used by the Rev Preese at the Hauraki Mission station in 1838. It was later owned by Nigel Williams who was on the bible revision committee in 1933. 1. From pencil signature on fly leaf badly worm holed and perished on rebinding. 2. Information from R.A.
