WELCOME We also encourage you to see more of what this city’s arts companies have on offer, including our own Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, back again at the Granville Island Stage, and our Silver Commission of Marcus Youssef’s It’s a Wonderful Christmas-ish Holiday Miracle at the Goldcorp Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre. Welcome to the Arts Club’s production of The Sound of Music. We are thrilled you could join us and make the Arts Club part of your yuletide tradition. We love that theatre provides the perfect occasion for gathering family and friends to socialize together, to share with our actors, crew, and creative team that intangible joy of a live audience connecting with a live performance. In fact, when we surveyed our patrons, this is the top reason given for attending an Arts Club performance. There is something about this time of year and an audience coming together as one—to breathe together, laugh together, and feel together— that could melt even the coldest of Scrooge hearts. It’s why we hold our holiday fundraising campaign now too—because we hope our shows strike a chord with you and encourage you to support our theatre as a space for everyone. Thank you for your consideration.

As for the show you’re about to see? We believe this musical is about love. There is a scene in the show (which may be familiar to some of you) where Maria is told by the Mother Abbess to embrace her great capacity to love and to choose to give that love to others. We can define our lives by choosing where we place that love. Like Maria, we, as humans, have that capacity—to climb every mountain, ford every stream in pursuit of it. It’s a beautiful sentiment and one we hope you carry with you as you leave this performance—to follow every rainbow till you find your dream. All the joy of the season from all of us here at the Arts Club! Peter and Ashlie Ashlie Corcoran, Artistic Director. Peter Cathie White, Executive Director

The Arts Club gratefully acknowledges Play Patrons Kirsten & Ali Pejman, Margaret Kendrick & . Bill Koch, Neil Duke & Candace Yip, and Brian Angus & Dorothy Stauffer.
